He turned his head and spoke softly to Josephine behind him: “Don’t be afraid. Did you maybe see something wrong?”

Josephine’s face was deathly pale. She didn’t dare look up, and her eyes were still filled with obvious panic.

She swallowed, her voice trembling: “I must have… seen it wrong.”

“Then, I’ll head back first.”

Josephine didn’t dare take the elevator again. She hurriedly took the stairs and rushed home.

She called Patricia, first asking if Shane was home.

Only after Patricia said he wasn’t did she ask if Patricia could come keep her company.

In just twenty minutes, Patricia arrived, and Josephine finally relaxed.

Zachery’s tightly furrowed brows suddenly relaxed, as if a lock had been forcefully opened.

He recalled that when he escorted Josephine downstairs, the elevator doors opened and a cart full of red roses appeared out of nowhere, which had startled Josephine so badly…
