The ER doctor said, “Start all the children on balanced fluids and run a full blood chemistry and electrolytes panel.”
From the direction of the elevator, there was a “ding” and the doors slowly opened
Two figures rushed out and hurried into the emergency room.
It was Wilfred and Helena.
Helena had heard about Belinda’s accident over the phone and had notified Wilfred, who was catching up on sleep.
The alcohol in Wilfred’s system had long since worn off.
He drove over, anxious and worried.
When Wilfred entered the ER, the first person he saw was Josephine.
Josephine was tall, strikingly beautiful, and exuded a powerful presence–she stood out even in the chaotic environment.
From Wilfred’s angle, the girl’s face in front of Josephine was blocked by the doctor.
He thought it was Belinda, and assumed Josephine had acknowledged Belinda. He felt the same joy of regaining something lost.
But when he walked over quickly, he saw it was Natalia.
The girl’s face was waxen, and every bout of vomiting caused her great pain
Wilfred didn’t particularly like this girl, but he still felt sympathy for her.
Josephine patted Natalia’s back, wiped her mouth, and softly called out, “Natalia, Natalia.”
Her eyes were full of pity.
“Fred, Belinda is over here,” Helena called out.
Wilfred shifted his gaze from Natalia and Josephine and went over to Belinda.

Belinda was sniflling and crying.
When she was sick, all she wanted was for her mother to come and stay with her.
Just now, when her mother’s hand was on her belly button, she felt so safe–a kind of comfort Auntie Helena could never replace.
Her teacher had said that the belly button was once the place that connected her to her mother. If she missed her mom, she could touch her belly button.
Her belly button hurt, and only her mother’s touch could make it better. Sob sob sob…
“Doctor, can you give her an antiemetic injection?”
Josephine watched as Natalia’s stomach was already empty, yet she still felt nauseous, and Josephine was extremely anxious.
Zachery had just finished a surgery and hadn’t even had time to change his clothes before coming to the emergency room.
Josephine saw him and called out, “Dr. Maynard, Dr. Maynard, over here.”
Zachery’s brows were deeply furrowed, his heart aching for his daughter beyond words.
He placed his hand on Josephine’s shoulder to comfort her: “Don’t worry, let me first understand the situation.”
He then gently stroked his daughter’s hair: “Natalia, don’t be afraid. Daddy’s here.
The ER director saw Zachery, nodded to signal him to come over, then turned back to the teachers and teaching assistants and said:
“No one from your Belinda got nervous when she heard the police would be called and cried out, “Daddy”
school is allowed to leave. I need to contact the police about this matter.”
Josephine happened to go check on Belinda.
She just caught Belinda’s eyelids drooping, her gaze flickering evasively…
Albert’s mother quietly pointed at Josephine and whispered to Mia’s mother, “Those two families are really complicated. You wouldn’t know if you haven’t been to the school. That one… the tall, pretty one, she’s actually Belinda’s real mom!”

Chapter145
Wilfred was rubbing Belinda’s stomach, his gaze occasionally falling on Josephine.
Ever since Zachery arrived, the tension in her eyes had cased quite a bit…
Zachery returned from the ER director and walked straight over to Josephine.
The two stood very close, one speaking in a low voice, the other leaning in to listen.
“The other children are fine. Only these four have varying degrees of gastroenteritis We suspect the four of them ate something outside of the school meals.”
“Something outside of school meals?”
