“Mom, you should go home first.”
“I’m not going home unless you come with me.”
Yvonne’s loud voice drew even more attention to Wilfred.
Wilfred glanced at the onlookers and received quite a few cold, mocking stares.
“I’ll be fine. Please go home first.”
As Wilfred withdrew his gaze from the crowd, he caught a glimpse of a familiar face.
She was wearing sunglasses, most of her body blocked by the people in front, so only half of her profile was visible.
But Wilfred had studied that face countless times.
He didn’t even need to look directly; just a fleeting glance from the corner of his eye was enough to recognize Josephine.
Josephine stepped to the front of the crowd, a faint, almost imperceptible smile on her lips.
Seeing Wilfred looking at her, she took off her sunglasses.
She didn’t avoid his gaze, nor did she stare intently; instead, she met his eyes with a calm, steady look.
Wilfred understood the meaning in her eyes.
She was mocking him.
All malicious intent, when projected, will eventually arc back onto oneself…
“Mr. Hayden, it’s time to get in the car,” the police officer reminded him.
Wilfred watched as people around him angled their phones to take pictures of his face.
A few even spat at him.
The scene felt eerily familiar.
There was no need for further investigation; the mastermind behind it all was now obvious.
He remembered how he had once treated Josephine.
Now, Josephine was determined to make him pay, in every possible way.
He finally understood what it felt like to have his dignity trampled–anger, desolation, humiliation, and… deserved!

Chapter211
Following Wilfred’s gaze, Yvonne also saw Josephine.
283 Wener
Without any evidence, she lashed out: “Was it you? Your daughter is still in the hospital, and now you’re sending her father to jail too. Do you have any conscience at all?”
Josephine put her sunglasses back on. “I gave it to you, just when you have none.”
As the police car drove away, Josephine was about to leave as well.
Yvonne grew even angrier and raised her hand to hit Josephine.
Josephine was tall, so Yvonne had to use all her strength.
She swung her arm in a wide arc, aiming a slap at Josephine’s face…
Josephine simply turned her body slightly and easily dodged.
Yvonne missed, unable to stop her momentum, lost her balance, and fell to the ground.
She cried out loudly, “My back! I threw out my back!”
Afraid of being blamed, the people nearby not only didn’t help, but quickly backed away as if she were a plague, keeping a safe three–meter distance.
Even Josephine, who was closest, didn’t help Yvonne up.
She had no faith in Yvonne’s character.
She was afraid that if she tried to help, Yvonne would scratch her face.
In the end, it was Yvonne’s driver who helped her into the car and took her to St. Estella Hospital.
Josephine drove away.
She didn’t turn on the air conditioning, but rolled down the window, letting the wind rush in.
She didn’t feel much satisfaction from finally getting her revenge.
Instead, she just felt tired, utterly exhausted!
Wilfred had sent her to the police car in just a few short hours, without the slightest effort.
But for her to send Wilfred to the police car, every step had to be calculated, costing manpower, money, energy, and strength.
That was the difference power made.
Hating someone was just too exhausting–she truly felt it now…
Josephine returned early to Opal Heights.
She had planned to eat, take a shower, complain to Patricia, and go to bed early.
