Chapter48
“Tomorrow I’m meeting the new head of LuminousCore Tech. Dr. Maynard, which outfit do you think is appropriate?”
Josephine said, pointing at her wardrobe.
Her reasoning was that since Zachery had friends at LuminousCore Tech, he should know whether the new head was male or female, and about how old they were.
She cared a lot about this job and wanted to make a good impression on the new head.
“Are you serious?” Zachery asked.
Josephine replied, “Of course. First impressions are so important.”
Zachery suddenly understood–Josephine was a bit overly anxious.
It was all because of Wilfred’s suppression. The urge to destroy Wilfred rose in him again.
But he had been paying attention to Josephine since he was seventeen and knew her quite well.
At this moment, all she really needed was a knife.
She wanted to vent her hatred and take revenge on her enemy with her own hands!
With a look as deep as a thousand mountains and rivers, Zachery went through all the clothes and pointed to one set, saying:
“This one is very nice.”
Josephine nodded in satisfaction, she thought this set was nice too.
A blue shirt, a silk scarf, and white wide–legged pants.
Zachery added, “The pants look a bit baggy. Did you try them on when you bought them?”
That was a good question–she hadn’t tried on any of them.
No matter how much she pretended not to care, her mood was still affected by Helena.

“I’ll try them on now. Dr. Maynard, can you give me your opinion?”
Josephine’s eyes lifted slightly, a subtle smile in them.
Zachery’s heart skipped a beat, and his mouth replied even faster than his mind: “I’d be happy to help.”
At 174 centimeters tall, Josephine had excellent proportions. The simply tailored shirt looked reserved and proud on her.
But she didn’t know how to tie a silk scarf.
She had the shop assistant tie it for her, but when she pulled it over her head, the knot loosened and became sloppy.
Standing face to face with her, Zachery’s gaze dropped, unintentionally tracing the line of her waist before settling on the knot.
“The scarf is crooked.”
Josephine fiddled with it a few times, but each attempt made the knot worse.
These useless hands–apart from making chips and fighting, she didn’t know what else they were good for.
Josephine sighed.
“Shall I help you?”
Although it was a question, Josephine’s scarf was already in Zachery’s hand.
He lowered his head, his long, clean fingers folding the scarf neatly, then wrapping it around Josephine’s neck from behind.
The pads of his fingers were warm and slightly damp, brushing her skin with a sense of propriety–touching and then immediately letting go.
But his breath fell silently against Josephine’s car
Josephine could clearly feel his breath–warm but slightly cool–making the skin by her ear tighten suddenly, then quickly expand.
Zachery sensed Josephine looking at him and raised his head.

They locked eyes for a long moment.
Zachery had double eyelids that were only visible when he looked down, giving him a narrow crease. He put on a polite smile, but in his deep black eyes, there were undercurrents Josephine couldn’t quite read.
No one knew how much time passed.
Zachery lowered his voice and said, “All done.”
As he let go, Josephine took a step back, deliberately widening the distance between them.
“Thank you.”
Zachery glanced at his watch and said:
“It’s best to eat the pomegranate seeds tonight. If you can’t finish them, wrap them in plastic wrap, squeeze out the air, and put them in the fridge. If you find it troublesome, just message me and I’ll come down to help you store them. Don’t eat them if they get soft, to avoid upsetting your stomach…”
Josephine frowned slightly.
Zachery fell silent. Was she annoyed by his nagging again?
