Chapter97
The crowd erupted in an uproar.
This child is only five years old–would she really lie to frame her own mother?
Yvonne and Helena hurried over.
Helena picked up Belinda and comforted her, “Don’t be afraid, Belinda. Be good, Daddy will be fine.”
Yvonne covered her face and wailed, “What a misfortune for our family! The daughter–in–law is shameless, cheating and beating her husband–where is justice?”
They entered the police station.
Belinda spotted Wilfred first and struggled to get down from Helena’s arms.
“Daddy, Daddy…”
Belinda threw herself into Wilfred’s arms, sobbing.
“Daddy, how did you get hurt like this? Was it Mommy who did it?”
Wilfred held his daughter, his throat tight, unable to speak.
No one had ever dared to hit him before, let alone leave him in such a sorry state.
Josephine and that man–he would remember them!
Helena walked up to Wilfred and slowly crouched down.
She touched Wilfred’s swollen, bruised face, and tears of distress streamed down her cheeks.
“Fred, does it hurt?”
Wilfred’s eyes flickered,
He looked at Helena, who was crying like rain, then at Josephine, who was still trying to defend Zachery.

Wasn’t it obvious who deserved his love more?!
As soon as Yvonne entered, she charged straight at Josephine.
Her gaze was as if she wanted to skin Josephine alive.
Josephine was still talking to the police, insisting that Zachery acted in self–defense.
She didn’t notice Yvonne’s arrival.
She saw a look of shock on the police officer’s face.
In an instant, she realized something was happening behind her.
Yvonne’s shadow cast on the table looked like a monster reaching out sharp claws toward Josephine.
Josephine’s expression turned icy.
She reached out and grabbed Yvonne’s wrist with perfect accuracy.
She turned around and stood up with a commanding presence.
She forcefully twisted Yvonne’s wrist outward.
Yvonne’s face gradually contorted in pain.
“It hurts, it hurts…”
A police officer picked up his baton and said, “Let go! How dare you hurt someone in a police station?”
Josephine had been patiently explaining to the police that it was Wilfred who started it, that he was the one who went too far.
But the police kept refuting her, clearly siding with Wilfred.
She had already broken down countless times, struggling to hold herself together.
Now Yvonne wanted to get involved too.
She didn’t want to endure it any longer.
With nothing left to lose, she glared at the police and said:

“She tried to hit me–didn’t you see? Are you blind and heartless? You don’t deserve to wear that uniform.”
“Put down your baton! If you dare hit me, I’ll fight you with my life.”
The police officer had only meant to scare Josephine with the baton, not actually use it.
But Josephine’s fearless attitude stunned him for a couple of seconds, and he actually put the baton down.
Josephine saw Helena supporting Wilfred as they approached.
She forcefully shoved Yvonne toward Wilfred.
Wilfred was already in pain all over, and being hit by Yvonne only made it worse.
Blood seeped through the bandages on his forehead and head from the effort of enduring the pain, and cold sweat poured down his face.
Yvonne first checked on her son, then, not daring to approach again, pointed at Josephine
and cursed:
“My son is a man of honor, but he was bewitched into marrying a wretch like you! Cheating in broad daylight, conspiring with your lover to commit murder…”
“A woman like
you
deserves to be barren! Your mother gave birth to a scourge you–no
wonder she died young…”
like
Josephine was already on the verge of losing control.
Yvonne successfully trampled her last shred of sanity.
She lunged forward and knocked Yvonne to the ground with her body.
