Tempted Trapped and Too Late to Run novel Chapter 857

Megan had no reason to lie. She’d never risk everything on something so reckless.

Clara rubbed her temples, taking a few steadying breaths before finally moving forward.

Behind her, Megan heard the car engine fade into the distance. She turned slowly, a bitter, mocking smile tugging at her lips. Everyone always looked down on her, treated her like a nobody. But she was determined to last until the end—to give Clara and Dylan’s relationship a blow they’d never recover from.

Clara drove back toward Palm Bay, calling Dylan on the way. He didn’t pick up.

Two hours later, the butler came stumbling in, all his usual pride gone. He dropped to his knees in front of her.

“Clara, you have to do something! The young master—he’s completely lost it! He’s about to fight the old man, I swear!”

Clara stood up from the sofa, her voice cold. “What are you talking about?”

The butler was shaking, his face pale. “The old man left the Capital this morning—no one knows where he went, he didn’t tell anyone. But a few hours ago, the young master stormed into the Ferguson family’s old estate and turned the ancestral hall upside down. He’s out of his mind! That’s the Ferguson family’s ancestral hall—nobody dares touch it! The ancestors won’t forgive him for this! Clara, you have to stop him. He even sent people to look for the old man. I don’t know, he might actually do something… unforgivable!”

Clara rushed out and drove straight to the old estate.

With the butler’s help, she managed to get inside.

She headed straight for the ancestral hall. She’d been here before, but now the grand nameplate had crashed to the floor.

Inside, the ancestral tablets were scattered everywhere. The golden incense burner was tipped over, ashes spilled across the floor.

Clara stood in the ruined, once-sacred hall. Her heart clenched at the sight of the white mourning banners still hanging, left behind in the chaos.

Dylan stood in the middle of it all, while the rest of the Ferguson family crowded in, voices rising with accusation.

“Dylan, you need to explain yourself. Now.”

“Are you insane? This is the ancestral hall—the most sacred place we have! How could you do this? How dare you?!”

Clara’s grip on his hand tightened. Everyone said Dylan was untouchable, but what had he been through to make him say something like that?

The rest of the Ferguson family erupted.
