Tempted Trapped and Too Late to Run novel Chapter 882

Clara peeled back the sheets one by one until only the mattress was left. And there it was—the ring she knew all too well.

She froze, almost wishing she was just imagining things.

Dylan sat at the edge of the bed, silent.

Clara swallowed hard and picked up the ring, holding it close to her eyes, checking every detail.

No doubt about it. It was Z’s ring.

She shot Dylan a look, something flickering in her eyes before she could hide it.

The air felt thick between them. Neither said a word.

Clara didn’t bother breaking the silence. She started going through every drawer in the nightstand, searching until, in the very bottom one, she found it—the red bean bracelet.

She just stared, paralyzed. The bracelet made her eyes sting with tears.

Maybe she could tell herself the ring was just something Dylan found by accident. But the bracelet? No way.

Z loved that bracelet. He wore it every time she went to see him. She still remembered all the sweet promises she’d made, telling him as long as the bracelet was around, there was still hope for the two of them.

Clara’s face went ghost-white as she looked at Dylan, completely at a loss.

Dylan was reckless in a way that scared her. Blowing up that whole hillside proved he didn’t care what happened next—like he wanted to drag everyone down with him.

He’d forced her into this marriage, too.

She took a deep, shaky breath and threw the bracelet at him, the ring right behind it.

They both hit him square on the cheek.

His lashes fluttered closed. Her voice cracked as she demanded, “Explain.”

Just saying the word made her feel numb all over.

If the explosion really was Dylan’s doing, then what did that make her? Still tangled up with him, still falling for him like an idiot. What a joke.

She fought to keep it together, voice trembling as she asked, “Just one question. Did you have anything to do with Z’s disappearance? Dylan, think before you answer. I don’t care who was behind it—whoever made him disappear, I won’t let them get away with it.”
