The Abandoned Wife's Second Chance (Scarlett and Jasper) novel Chapter 152

Chapter 152

(Virginia’s POV)

I’ve had enough.

I can’t take this anymore.

This accident should’ve ended Scarlett’s life. It should’ve erased her existence from the face

of the earth, and by extension, from my life.

Instead, it messed up my life, reducing all my years of effort to nothing.

Jasper is back to being that same old Jasper who was smitten with Scarlett Stone.

Seven years ago, I went through so much, did things I would’ve never even thought of doing, to get his attention.

Lying. k********g. Stealing.

Nothing worked. I used the status difference between them to get it in his head that he and Scarlett Stone could never work. That they are from two different worlds. No matter how much he loves Scarlett Stone, in her eyes, he’ll always be the man who sold his dignity for

success.

This tactic worked for a short while. But not for long. Because the Jasper I thought would divorce Scarlett Stone to preserve his dignitythat Jasper turned into a madman who worked day and night to prove himself worthy of her.

In the end, I orchestrated my own fake r**e incident to guilt trap him and make him take care of me forever.

My years of hard work paid off. Jasper began to care for me more and more, neglecting his wifeleading to her separating from him.

That should’ve been the beginning of my happily ever after.

That should’ve been the chance for me to enter his life, his home, and erase every trace of her existence, making him completely mine.

But again, things didn’t go according to plan.

Jasper rarely stayed in Avalon, going from state to state, city to city, chasing after her shadow.

I spent four years guarding his empty house, while he went around like a lovesick fool

looking for his wife.

But I didn’t mind. Because I had a plan.

One that would’ve taken care of both the b***h and her bastard once and for all.

It should’ve ended there.

That should’ve been the last chapter on Scarlett Stone’s story. And yet, despite all my efforts, there was no the endat the end of the page, but a new beginning.

One of Jasper with Scarlett Stone, and their bastard daughter, Lily.

And as if that wasn’t bad enough, he got amnesia undoing all of my efforts from the past

seven years.

But no. I refuse to accept this. I refuse to let her win.

Jasper is mine, and I’ll take him back.

I slam my car door so hard the whole vehicle shakes. My hands grip the steering wheel until my knuckles turn white, trying to contain the rage boiling under my skin.

He uninvited me. From our trip. The trip we planned together.

No. Not our trip. Their honeymoon. Their precious alone time.

I press my forehead against the steering wheel and scream. The sound fills the car, raw and ugly, but it doesn’t help. Nothing helps.

The way he looked at her. Like no one could enter his eyes, his heart, aside from herthat same look from years agoLike he couldn’t breathe without her in the room.

That’s the look I’ve been yearning for. The one I’ve been chasing ever since that night eleven

years ago.

What makes her worthy of that adoration, that devotion from him, and not me?

Why could she get it so easily, without lifting a finger, and I, despite everything I’ve done to get just one glance from himI still can’t enter his eyes.

My phone rings. Blair’s name flashes on the screen.

I consider ignoring it, but she’ll just keep calling. She always does when she thinks I’m upset.

What?

Virginia, sweetheart. Where are you?

In the parking garage. Why?

I’m coming down. Don’t leave yet.

She hangs up before I can argue. I lean back in my seat, closing thy eyes, trying to slow my breathing. The panic is creeping in at the edges, that familiar tightness in my chest that signals an attack coming.

Not now. I can’t afford to fall apart now.

A tap on my window makes me jump. Blair stands there, worry etched across her face. I unlock the door and she slides into the passenger seat.

Talk to me,she says gently. Are you okay?

No, thanks to you!I spit. She flinches at the venom in my tone. But I don’t care enough to spare her feelings.

He kicked me out. Said he needs time alone with his wife.Just repeating the words makes my mouth fill with bitterness.

How could he do that to me? After all the years we’ve been together, how could he kick me aside for a random woman?

It doesn’t make sense no matter how I think about it.

Blair’s face softens with sympathy, which somehow makes it worse. I don’t want her pity. I want what’s mine. I want Jasper.

He doesn’t remember, Virginia. In his mind, he’s a happily married man.

But Scarlett’s not even his wife anymore! They’re separated. She’s engaged to someone else.My voice rises with each word. Why am I the one being pushed away when she’s the one who needs to be kicked out of the picture?

Because she’s the one he loves.
