Winona smiled coolly, her tone light. "A girl in her teens should have a good memory. Why are you so forgetful, Hattie?"

"What do you mean?" Hattie looked puzzled.

Was Winona really about to air her own dirty laundry? Hattie had deliberately kept Winona's secrets under wraps—she didn't want Yves Prescott to know that she and Winona went way back.

Hattie was speechless.

"And last time, didn't Yves Prescott tell you already? I'm not your aunt. I'm just his girlfriend. You know what that means, right? He spends money on me, I make a little off him. So when you call me 'Aunt' in front of everyone, I appreciate you holding me in such high regard. But aren't you, in front of all these people, just making a fool out of your precious Mr. Prescott? Winona turned to the crowd, her voice easy and unhurried. "Everyone, let me properly introduce myself. I'm Yves Prescott's girlfriend. Gold digger, if you want to call it that—and that nickname, by the way, Hattie gave me herself. She knows me and what I've done inside out. So I honestly don't get why she's hiding it from you all. Maybe she's just playing games with you?"

Winona's calm questioning left the room in awkward silence, the tables turning so smoothly that suddenly, it sounded like Hattie's been playing her friends all along.

Felicity, hearing this, started to wonder if Hattie had been toying with everyone.

Hattie's temper flared. "You—I'm playing you, Winona! You! Not my friends!"
