Don't blame anyone else.
Blame him.
"Daddy will take care of things between you and Mom, and he'll also handle things with Miss Felly, alright?" Julian tried to soothe his daughter, keeping his voice calm so she wouldn't be afraid.
Tiana nodded. "Okay."
Julian took her by the hand and helped her into the car. They drove home in silence.
He'd spent the whole day at the hospital dealing with Victor's situation, and countless work issues from the company were still waiting for him at home.
After a quick dinner, Julian buried himself in his study, lost in paperwork.
Tiana wished her dad could spend a little more time with her. She looked at him with pleading eyes, but he couldn't give her what she wanted.
The piles of files in the study were like mountains—if he didn't take care of them tonight, the company would be in chaos tomorrow.
He suddenly remembered how, when Winona was still at home, he never had to worry about any of this.
Winona managed to raise Tiana beautifully, kept the house running perfectly, and always made sure both his and Tiana's clothes were neatly laid out and ready.
When you have a peaceful, loving, well-kept home, you don't even realize what you have. You take for granted the woman silently holding everything together, thinking she's dispensable—someone you can ignore, someone you don't even owe basic respect.
Only after losing her did he understand just how irreplaceable she truly was.
Julian spoke to Tiana with an apologetic tone. "Tiana, how about Daddy spends time with you tomorrow? For now, why don't you go find Karla or Ms. Murphy? They can play with you or read you a story."
Karla and Sue were the newest housekeepers.
Both of them seemed to side with Winona, which made Julian realize just how much he'd neglected and mistreated Winona in the past—even the staff felt they could walk all over her.
