"You, educate Tiana?" Winona let out a sharp, incredulous laugh at Felicity's audacity.
If she'd known this call was from Felicity, she never would have answered. It was a surefire way to ruin her good mood.
"Miss Shepherd, I suggest you get your head examined. Or perhaps see a psychiatrist? You seem to be blissfully unaware that you're living in a world of your own making."
"When you say you've never done anything to wrong me, does that include occupying my husband and my daughter's lives? Does it include using my husband's money—my money—to bully me? Or how about using my money to forcibly buy the crucifix my grandmother inherited, just to flaunt it in her face?"
"You want to teach the daughter I carried for ten months to be nicer to me? Felicity, is this some kind of sick joke? It's like you've decided poison is a delicacy, you're feasting on it, and now you're trying to serve it to everyone else and demanding they thank you for the meal."
Felicity shrieked, her voice cracking. "You… you… I'll skin you alive, Winona!"
"If you're so sick, then maybe you should just die!" Winona snapped, hanging up the phone.
Felicity went ballistic.
She ripped the landline from the wall and hurled it across the room. The woman who always prided herself on her composure collapsed onto the floor, sobbing uncontrollably.
Between gasps, she wailed, "Winona, I hate you! I hate you! What did I ever do to you to deserve this? From the day you were born, you stole my parents. Then you stole my boyfriend. I was so patient with you, so reasonable! I made every possible concession, and still, you bully me like this!"
"Winona, you have the heart of a viper…"
A wave of hysterical grief washed over Felicity, and she cried until the carpet beneath her was soaked with tears.
