Julian said nothing.
He had made it clear: no one from the Nicholson family—staff included—was allowed to call Winona.
He refused to indulge her. Not even once. He wouldn't give Winona a single chance.
Yet now, according to the doctor, Tiana's persistent fever was caused by a bout of acute gastroenteritis—her frail stomach couldn't handle it. To put it plainly, ever since Winona had left the Nicholson house over a month ago, Tiana hadn't eaten well.
Julian had already replaced two of the four housekeepers who'd worked for the family for over a decade. It hadn't helped.
Not a single dish they made suited Tiana. Honestly, he wasn't faring much better—every meal felt like a gamble.
He couldn't deny it: Winona had a hold on both his and Tiana's taste buds.
But the more he realized this, the more he resented her. To Julian, it felt like her most manipulative trick.
As Julian stayed silent, Janetta started up again. "Julian… Tiana told me about all this. If you don't want Winona as your wife, fine. But you could let her stay in the house as a housekeeper."
Winona, sitting quietly in the corner, heard every word. They still dreamed of making her their maid? The thought was almost laughable.
Janetta rambled on, "If Winona works for you, she can look after both you and Tiana, and she can help take care of Felicity too! Tiana told me Felicity loves Winona's cooking."
At that, Felicity finally spoke. Her voice was gentle, almost coaxing Julian. "Why not let Winona come back as the housekeeper?"
Julian's voice softened as he turned to Felicity, full of affection. "What are you saying? Forcing her to serve us, making her live under the same roof day in and day out—how could I let you suffer that kind of humiliation?"
Felicity smiled, cool and confident. "I'm not afraid of humiliation. Even if she's around twenty-four hours a day, I trust you wouldn't give her a second glance. Besides, I'm quite confident in my own charm."
Winona: …
If she hadn't come today, she never would have known she was the one standing between this happy little trio—Julian, Felicity, and Tiana.
