Chapter 307: I don’t know when is the wedding

The next day...

Lola grunted, her entire body sore from last night’s fight. She stretched, then turned to her side. As she opened her eyes, she caught a figure lying beside her. Lola blinked weakly a few more times until Atlas’s face grew clearer.

Atlas was lying on his side, his temple resting against his knuckles. He stared at her, his expression unreadable.

"Good morning," she greeted in a hoarse voice, scooting closer to him. "Did you just arrive?"

"I told you I’d be back last night, not today," he said, his eyes scanning her again.

This time, she knew what was in his head.

"I’m fine," she reassured with a chuckle. "Though my muscles feel sore. Feels like hitting the gym for the first time, but overall, I’m okay."

"I know," he answered flatly. "The doctor told me you are fine, and I trust professionals more."

His eyes scanned every pore of her body and, without a word, he leaned over and planted a soft kiss on the corner of her lips. Lola squinted a bit, clutching the blanket. But unlike what she expected, Atlas drew his head back instead of pinning her.

"My siblings are here," he whispered. "They’re worried, so they came early."

"Oh." She blinked, keeping herself together.

"Can you get up?"

"Mhm." She pursed her lips and nodded.

"Okay."

Atlas got up. Standing at the side of the bed, he offered his hand to her. "Come."

Lola idled for a second before she reached out. When she was seated on the edge of the bed, she glanced up at him. "Atlas, about last night... are you sure you’re okay with it?"

Atlas blinked. "Mhm."

"Did you even see the penthouse?" she asked, just to make sure it hadn’t scared him. "I — I hurt people."

"And I’m impressed. You should’ve hurt them more."

Lola studied his expression, searching for any trace of doubt. There was none. If anything, Atlas looked at her the same way—she didn’t expect that. Even when he had told her about the Secret Society, in her eyes, Atlas was faultless. For her, he was an angel. Even now, his halo was shining so bright.

"Get up now," he reached for her hand. "Otherwise, you’ll be stuck in there."

Her thoughts halted. When his words sank in, Lola felt her entire body weaken. Collapsing onto her back, but he held her hand to keep her from falling.

"Atlas, I want to sleep some more~" she mused, reclining with her hand in his grip. "I think I should stay in bed for a while?"

He narrowed his eyes and then let her hand go. Lola instantly collapsed back onto the mattress, almost biting her tongue as she hummed.

"Ack—" she winced, only to feel his knee settle between her legs as he crawled on top of her. She pursed her lips as his face hovered over hers, pinching his shirt. Her eyes gleamed with excitement and mischief, a suppressed giggle bubbling up.

Atlas let out a faint sigh, then the corners of his mouth hooked up. He was relieved she was truly fine.
