Lily had been beating herself up for quite a while before she noticed his message.

She quickly replied, “See you tomorrow. Goodnight.”

Earlier, she’d been so eaten up with guilt over what her horrible hands, mouth, legs, and everything else had done to James that she couldn’t sleep.

But once she saw Elias’s goodnight message, her restless heart somehow calmed down.

She looked at her phone and softly whispered, “Goodnight,” before drifting off into a deep, peaceful sleep.

On the nearly three–meter–wide bed, Lily was fast asleep. In the study, James was rubbing his thumb across the last message she had sent, unable to fall asleep no matter how he tried.
