THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 251

“What?”

Kelvin Fairchild felt his whole world tilt at his assistant’s words.

Caitlin Kensington had actually cured Dowager Hannah Richards?

Could it be… Did she really know how to perform Golden Needle Channel Activation?

But Caitlin was so young! How was that even possible?

Kelvin turned to his assistant. “You saw with your own eyes that Hannah is fine?”

“Yes. I saw it myself.” The assistant nodded emphatically.

Kelvin’s face darkened, growing more ashen by the second.

Just a moment ago, he’d been congratulating himself on refusing Caitlin’s offer to assist her during the treatment.

Now? He wanted to slap himself.

Regret gnawed at him—bitter, overwhelming regret.

If only he’d known Caitlin truly had such skill, he never would have turned her down.

If he’d accepted her offer, he could’ve learned something real from Caitlin—and, more importantly, he’d have been one of the people who saved Hannah Richards’ life.

That would’ve done wonders for his career.

But now? He’d just waved goodbye to the opportunity of a lifetime.

Kelvin collapsed into a chair, face pale with frustration.

A few seconds passed before he shot up again and hurried toward the door.

His assistant called after him, “Dr. Fairchild, where are you going?”

“I’m going to check on Hannah myself.”

“I’ll come with you!”

Kelvin was in no mood to wait. The VIP suite was on the seventeenth floor, but their office was up on the nineteenth, and the elevator was all the way down on the first floor. He couldn’t stand to wait, so he spun around and bolted for the emergency stairs.

He had to see for himself.

He couldn’t believe Caitlin had really pulled off such a miracle.

His footsteps echoed off the stairwell walls as he raced downward, taking the steps two at a time.

As if on cue, Molly’s words had barely faded when Hannah’s eyes fluttered open. She looked up at her daughters-in-law. “Adelina, could I have some water?”

Adelina jumped up at once. “Of course, Mom, I’ll get it right away.”

Only now did Kelvin accept what he was seeing.

His expression was hard to read.

It was real. Unbelievably, it was real.

He’d truly missed his big break.

Kelvin’s heart churned with emotion—regret, disbelief, envy, and a sting of humiliation. He felt like he might burst into tears on the spot.

If only he hadn’t turned down Caitlin’s invitation.

Kelvin hardly remembered how he made his way out of the hospital room. All he knew was that there was no medicine in the world for regret.

Back in the hospital room, Hannah sipped her water and then asked, “Where’s Dr. Kensington?”

“Mom, they took Dr. Kensington back to her hotel,” Adelina replied.

Hannah studied her daughters-in-law. “Adelina, Molly, don’t you think that young woman looks so much like Carey? Really, the resemblance is uncanny! When I saw her, it was as if Carey was standing right in front of me. Do you think… do you think she could be my Freya? My poor, lost Freya…”
