THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 254

Celeste nodded, thinking Caitlin made perfect sense.

After they finished their afternoon tea, the two wandered around, sightseeing and snapping photos together.

--

In the blink of an eye, it was the next day.

As promised, Caitlin went to visit the Richards family.

Their car was already waiting outside early in the morning.

When Caitlin stepped out of the building, Easton and Sebastian Richards immediately stood up to greet her. “Dr. Kensington.”

“Mr. Easton, Mr. Sebastian.”

It was strange—ever since their father and the older relatives had mentioned how much Caitlin resembled their aunt Carey, Easton and Sebastian couldn’t help but start seeing her as a little sister of their own.

There were over a dozen brothers in their family, all boys. When they were young, they’d dreamed of having a sweet, gentle little sister, but every aunt in the family gave birth to one rambunctious boy after another.

If Caitlin really was their sister, it would finally fulfill their childhood wish.

“Dr. Kensington,” Sebastian stepped forward, “the car’s waiting right outside. After you.”

Caitlin gave a small nod and walked out ahead. Easton and Sebastian followed at her heels.

The car sped along quickly.

By the time they arrived, Hannah and several of her sons and daughters-in-law were already waiting outside.

The Richards family was large—seeing them all gathered together was quite an impressive sight.

With a soft hiss, the car came to a stop.

Easton and Sebastian hurried over to open the door.

Caitlin stepped out.

At that moment, Hannah and the rest of the family came forward to greet her.

“Dr. Kensington, you’re finally here! I’ve been waiting for you so eagerly,” Hannah exclaimed, her eyes shining.

Caitlin took Hannah’s hand warmly. “Mrs. Richards, you’ve only just recovered. It’s not good for you to stay outside in the wind too long. Let’s head inside.”

“Of course,” Hannah agreed, nodding. Just seeing Caitlin seemed to lift her spirits, her worries melting away.

Once inside, Hannah immediately had the staff bring out tea and refreshments.

Only the finest tea was served—Le Palais des Thés—with a selection of delicate pastries. Hannah kept holding Caitlin’s hand, chatting with her nonstop.

Elaine Prescott and Stephanie exchanged a glance, then Elaine grinned. “Mom, let me tell you and Dr. Kensington a funny story!”

“Go on, I’d love to hear it,” Hannah replied, smiling.

Elaine began, “So, it was exam day at Underwater School. Little Shrimp hadn’t studied the night before and ended up cheating during the test. The teacher, Miss Fish, asked him, ‘Who did you copy from?’ Little Shrimp looked embarrassed and said, ‘Sorry, teacher, I copied from Clam.’ Miss Fish got angry and said, ‘You clam up!’”

“It’s all right, Lady Adelina. I can manage,” Caitlin said gently, not bothered in the slightest. She rolled up her left sleeve to dry the spill herself.

In that instant, every eye in the room was drawn to Caitlin’s arm.

Her skin was fair, almost luminous.

But there wasn’t a single birthmark or even a tiny mole on her smooth, pale arm.

The hope on Hannah’s face evaporated in an instant.

Nothing.

There was nothing.

Why? Why did fate have to play such a cruel trick on her?

Caitlin had that dimple when she smiled, and she looked so much like Carey, but why—why didn’t she have the birthmark?

Seeing that Caitlin’s arm was unmarked, the rest of the Richards family looked just as disappointed.

After all this anticipation, it seemed their hope had been in vain.

Caitlin finished drying her left arm, then calmly rolled up her right sleeve.

In the next moment, a vivid red birthmark came sharply into view for everyone to see.
