At this moment, Keira had only one thought in her mind.
She had to bring her Freya back immediately.
Just the idea of seeing Freya again made Keira’s eyes well up with tears.
Boom.
Amanda felt as if she’d been struck by lightning when she heard Keira’s words.
They... they’d found Freya?
How could this be?
Wasn’t Freya supposed to be dead?
If Freya really came back, what would happen to her? And to Ann?
After all, Ann was now the sole heir to Gonzales Holdings.
But if Freya returned, Ann’s position would no longer be secure.
Unlike Keira, who was overcome with excitement, Amanda was seized by panic—her chest so tight she could barely breathe. Still, she forced herself to look thrilled, letting out a gasp and covering her mouth. “Really? Mom! Did the Richards family actually say that? They’ve found Freya?”
“That’s right.” Keira wasn’t counting on Amanda to book her flight anymore. She’d already bundled up in her winter coat and grabbed her purse, heading straight for the door. As she walked out, she called to the waiting assistant, “Nash, book me the earliest flight to Silverhaven.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Nash gave her a respectful nod.
Amanda hurried after Keira. “Mom, wait! Did the Richards family run a DNA test? Are they sure it’s really Freya? Your health isn’t great—what if it all turns out to be a wild goose chase?”
“It won’t be. I promise.” Keira smiled. “They’ve already sent me the DNA results and the address. I have to get to Silverhaven right away.”
DNA results—already? That fast?
Amanda nearly fainted. How on earth had the Richards family found Freya?
She survived, even after all that?
Freya’s luck was almost unnatural.
Amanda fought to keep her composure, doing her best to look genuinely happy. “Mom, let me come with you!”
“No need.” Keira waved her off. “You stay here. Stuart still needs someone to look after him.”
Keira didn’t trust leaving Stuart in the hands of strangers while everyone else was gone.
“The Richards family found Freya!”
What?!
Ann had been lounging on the sofa, but now she jumped to her feet, her face pale as a sheet. “Mom, what did you say? Who did they find?”
“Freya. You heard me right—the Richards family found Freya!” Amanda’s own voice was tense. “You need to come home, now!”
Ann was on the verge of tears. “Mom, you’re joking, right?”
“I don’t have time to joke with you. Get home—fast! If you delay, there might not be a place for you in the Gonzales family anymore.”
They had to find out everything about Freya. Only then could they figure out a way to deal with her.
Amanda couldn’t believe it—just before the holidays, and something like this had to happen.
Hearing her mother’s words, Ann finally realized it wasn’t a joke.
It was real.
No wonder—no wonder, when she’d visited the Richards family earlier, Steward Wallace had mentioned there was something major going on.
