THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 279

To Bonnie, it was obvious that Fortune adored her as his own granddaughter.

After all, she was his only flesh-and-blood grandchild.

As long as Fortune acknowledged her, she’d officially become Caitlin’s little sister.

Caitlin was now Miss Gonzales.

That meant, soon enough, Bonnie could be the second young lady of the Gonzales family!

The more she thought about it, the more excited Bonnie became. Clutching Iliana and Ernest’s arms, she urged, “Mom, Dad, let’s go! We need to find Grandpa—right now!”

There was a time when Bonnie had wanted nothing to do with Fortune. Now, she couldn’t wait for him to take her back, to claim her as family.

She was dying for the chance to step over Caitlin, to become the new darling of the Gonzales family, the little princess of the Richards family.

Then, just like Caitlin, she’d be interviewed by the press, appear on television, become the envy of all.

If Laurel or Grace Shepherd saw her on TV, they’d be green with jealousy for sure!

After all, this wasn’t just any family. This was the Gonzales family. The Richards family. The sort of families that ordinary people could spend a lifetime dreaming about and never even get close to.

Ernest, hearing his daughter’s eagerness, hesitated, concern flickering across his face. “But… I said some awful things to your grandfather back then. Do you really think he’ll forgive me?”

He’d said all manner of harsh words to sever ties with Fortune. Now he was more than a little anxious about seeing him again.

“You’re his only son! He’s not going to hold a grudge forever,” Iliana said, narrowing her eyes with a knowing smile. “And Bonnie’s absolutely right. Last time I brought her with me to your sister’s, we bumped into your father in the neighborhood. The way he doted on Bonnie—he called out to her right away! If he sees her coming to find him herself, he’ll be over the moon. Why wouldn’t he take us back?”

Besides, Ernest wasn’t just Fortune’s son—he was his only son in the world.

There was absolutely nothing to worry about. It was practically impossible that Fortune wouldn’t recognize them again.

Iliana’s eyes gleamed with calculation as she continued, “Ernest, what you really need to think about isn’t whether he’ll accept us, but what conditions we’ll set once we see him.”

“I honestly haven’t thought about that,” Ernest admitted, looking to his wife for guidance as always. “What do you think we should ask for?”

“You’re absolutely right,” Ernest said, nodding vigorously. “That’s what we’ll do. Let’s go find him right now!”

Iliana and Bonnie grabbed their coats, ready to head out with Ernest.

Iliana’s parents walked them to the door, practically shaking with excitement. “Ernest, Iliana, we’ll be waiting here for your good news!”

The Hadleys had never imagined that just owning a luxury condo would be the highlight of their lives. Now, it looked like they would be moving to the Capital!

“Don’t worry, Mom, Dad,” Ernest called back with a grin. “Just get ready to enjoy the good life with us in the Capital!”

Very soon, they’d have two villas in the city, and Bonnie would be living with Caitlin as the second young lady of the Gonzales family.

First, Ernest and Iliana went to Fortune’s old apartment complex, but he wasn’t there. When they asked the building manager, they learned that Fortune and Caitlin had already moved to Willow Manor.

Bonnie’s eyes widened. “No wonder! Last semester I saw Caitlin with a Willow Manor keycard. That must’ve been when the Gonzales and Richards families found out about her—only they hadn’t done the DNA test yet.”
