THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 290

But now!

Even his daughter-in-law had run off.

What lawsuit was there left to file?

A faint smile tugged at the corners of Gordon’s lips, but he quickly smoothed it away. He looked up at Beatrice. “Mom, you can’t just make decisions on a whim. We’ve only been in Silverhaven for three years.”

“I’m not acting on a whim! I mean it! I don’t care what you say, I’m moving to The Capital!” Beatrice insisted, her voice rising. “Besides, haven’t you always complained that Sylvester Gardens is too noisy? Well, once we’re in The Capital, it’ll be much quieter!”

Gordon frowned. “Are you serious about this?”

“Of course I am! I’m as serious as a heart attack!”

Gordon let out a helpless sigh. “You really don’t want to think it over?”

“What’s there to think about? I’ve made up my mind, and that’s final!”

“Alright, then.” Gordon tried to look as if he was reluctantly giving in. “If you’ve decided, I’ll respect your wishes.”

Seeing her son finally relent, Beatrice was satisfied. “That’s more like it. Start getting things ready—we’ll move to The Capital after the New Year.”

There were only four days left until the holiday.

Moving so soon wasn’t exactly realistic.

“Got it,” Gordon nodded. “I’ll let my sister and her husband know later.”

After dinner, Gordon headed upstairs to his room.

He closed the door and scooped Snow up off the bed, grinning with excitement. “Snow, are you happy? We’re about to move to The Capital!”

The Capital?

At the mention of those words, Snow perked up and started meowing with delight.

Was Dad finally going to take her to see Catie?

A few seconds later, Gordon put Snow down, narrowing his eyes as he took a sniff. “What’s going on? Snow, you don’t smell as nice as usual!”

Snow: “......”

Of course she didn’t. She hadn’t gotten a cuddle from Catie in two days—how could she possibly smell as sweet?

Before this, Catie hugged her every single day.

Soon enough, the 28th arrived.

“I use Glowverse,” Caitlin replied.

Glowverse?

The makeup artist was taken aback.

Glowverse was a household skincare line under the Gonzales Holdings umbrella—affordable and popular, especially among mothers and grandmothers. Most young women preferred high-end luxury brands.

She’d assumed that with skin as flawless as Caitlin’s, she must use only the most exclusive products. Who would have guessed her secret was Glowverse?

“I’ll have to try Glowverse when I get home,” the makeup artist said, half-joking, half-serious.

Caitlin smiled. “I’ll have someone send you the New Year’s limited edition set.”

The makeup artist’s face lit up. “Thank you, Miss Gonzales!”

When she first heard that the daughter the Gonzales family had found was a country girl, she’d pictured someone rough around the edges, a nouveau riche bumpkin.

But Caitlin, despite her rural background, carried herself with a grace and poise that outshone many heiresses. It was hard not to feel an instinctive urge to look up to her.

Knock, knock, knock—

Just as she was finishing up Caitlin’s makeup, a knock sounded on the door.
