THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 332

About ten minutes later, police cars and an ambulance arrived, sirens wailing.

Amanda climbed into the ambulance, following it all the way to the hospital.

Inside the ambulance, as she watched the paramedics perform emergency procedures on Ann, Amanda’s voice shook with anxiety. “Doctor, please, is my daughter going to be okay? She’s not in any real danger, is she?”

“For now, there’s no immediate threat to her life,” the doctor reassured her. “Try not to worry.”

Amanda finally let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding.

She knew it—Caitlin must have been exaggerating, just trying to scare her.

Meanwhile, Keira and Caitlin were ushered into a police car.

Arthur Walsh and Lolita Banks, who’d been visiting the Gonzales family as guests, were also asked to ride along—apparently, they were needed as witnesses.

Lolita grumbled as she slid into the backseat next to Arthur. “So much for the Gonzales family’s star granddaughter. If you ask me, she’s nothing compared to Miss Keira. This is just great—on New Year’s Day, of all times, we end up at the police station! Talk about bad luck.”

For businesspeople, nothing was more ominous than getting tangled up with the police at the start of the year.

She never would have thought that a simple New Year’s visit to wish Keira well would turn into such a mess—blood, chaos, and now a trip to the police station.

All the drama of the past year hadn’t matched what had happened in a single afternoon.

Arthur was equally frustrated. “Did you hear Mrs. Somerset? She kept insisting Ann was a murderer. Do you think it’s possible? Or is Mrs. Somerset just… unstable?”

It was all so sudden.

Yara was consumed by grief, wishing she could follow her son into the afterlife.

Why?

Why would God do this to her?

At last, Keira pieced together what had happened. Shocked, she asked, “Wait—are you saying Ann stopped you from taking Harlan to the hospital for surgery?”

“That’s right! It was her—her and no one else! If not for her, my boy would still be alive! Harlan was my only son. How am I supposed to go on now? How am I supposed to live?”
