THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 345

“Don’t see each other again?”

“We’re not from the same world?”

Hearing those words, Julian thought for a moment he must have misheard.

What did Sophie mean by that?

Was she—was she really breaking up with him?

No.

That couldn’t be.

Sophie loved him—he was sure of it. She was so kind, so innocent. How could she possibly want to end things with him?

Julian forced himself to stay calm, mustering a weak smile. “Sophie, what are you talking about? I don’t quite understand.”

“Let’s break up,” Sophie said flatly.

Break up!?

The words hit Julian like a bolt of lightning on a clear day.

“Soph—Sophie, are you joking?” He stared at her, eyes wide in disbelief.

Could Dalton have been right all along? Had Sophie never truly loved him? Was she only after the Chandler family’s wealth, or his own much-hyped success in the finance world?

Sophie met his gaze, her face stripped of all the warmth and affection he’d once known. “No, you heard me right. Let’s break up.”

Julian’s eyes burned. “So Dalton was telling the truth. You never loved me! Even when you suddenly decided to study abroad, it wasn’t about your education. You were just running away from me—because my family was in the middle of a financial crisis.”

He desperately wanted her to deny it.

But she didn’t.

Sophie just nodded. “That’s right. Dalton was right. Julian, I thought you always knew—marriage is about being a good match. I was raised in comfort. I could never follow you into a cheap apartment or struggle just to get by.”

Vida and Veronica stood frozen, stunned. They’d thought Sophie was here to take them away to a better life.

But instead—

Sophie had turned on them completely.

Vida finally lost it. She stormed out of the car, jabbing a finger at Sophie and shouting, “You shameless little slut! You’re the reason Julian divorced Caitlin! If he’d stayed with her, he’d be the Gonzales family’s golden son-in-law right now. Thanks to you, the Chandler family is in ruins—and now you’re dumping him? You heartless witch!”

He truly, deeply regretted it.

He regretted divorcing Caitlin for someone like Sophie.

He’d once had a beautiful marriage. If only he’d cherished it, if only he’d worked at it with Caitlin, things would never have come to this.

But now—

Now everything was gone, vanished like a dream.

“Ahhhh!” Julian screamed in agony, his legs giving way as he collapsed to the ground, sobbing uncontrollably.

The Capital.

Caitlin was packing Fortune’s things for the return trip.

Hannah and Keira were helping, bustling around the room.

The two older women had packed two enormous suitcases full of local treats—specialties from the Capital and Neon Spire—for Caitlin to bring back and share with Fortune’s friends in Silverhaven.
