When Ann saw the reply, Miranda’s excitement practically jumped off the screen. She messaged back instantly: "It really is you! Ann, I knew it! I could tell from that silhouette—it had to be you! I mean, we bought that jacket together at the mall, remember?"
That was back when vintage-inspired fashion was just starting to trend. Hardly anyone dared try it yet.
Ann had wanted to experiment with a new look, so she’d picked out that bright red vest with the quirky buttons. No wonder Miranda recognized her instantly from behind.
Still, Miranda hadn’t been totally sure. So she reached out to Ann—and, to her delight, she’d guessed right.
"Girl, you are way too low-key!" Miranda messaged next. "If this happened to anyone else, they’d be shouting from the rooftops, taking credit with their main account. But you? You don’t even want the attention!"
Miranda honestly admired Ann for it.
Ann replied, "I never wanted to be in the public eye."
Miranda shot back, "Come on, seriously! If you won’t step up and claim it, I’m going to freak out for you! By the way, I tagged you in the comments under that original post!"
"I really don’t want to show my face," Ann insisted.
"Who says you have to?" Miranda replied. "There are tons of big creators on TikTok who never show their faces. And your whole account is just hands, anyway!"
"Ann, I really did tag you in the comments under the original video."
Ann did have beautiful hands. She’d always dreamed of being one of those creators who only showed their hands. Her TikTok was filled with close-up, hands-only videos—she’d posted loads, but none had ever really taken off.
She never expected an opportunity like this to land in her lap.
In Ann’s mind, if the person in that viral silhouette had never stepped forward to claim it, maybe something bad had happened to them—maybe they weren’t even alive anymore. After all, who would just sit back and watch themselves go viral without saying a word?
If the original owner was gone, then from now on, she’d be the owner of that famous silhouette.
The thought made Ann’s lips curl into a small smile as she typed back to Miranda, "Do whatever you want."
As soon as Miranda saw that reply, she wasted no time tagging Ann’s TikTok handle under the viral video.
It happened fast.
In just ten minutes, Ann’s follower count shot up by a hundred thousand—and it was still climbing.
"And third, I’m not interested in being an influencer or building some online persona. I truly appreciate your kindness."
People already adored Ann for her mysterious silhouette; now, her humble message only made them love her more.
"She’s so low-key—love it!"
"Her personality is amazing!"
"Can you believe there’s still someone out there who doesn’t want to be internet famous? She’s so effortlessly genuine."
"Didn’t expect to find someone so pure and unspoiled on TikTok."
"Instant fan here."
"Even without seeing her face, I can tell she must be gentle, kind, and beautiful."
"Totally agree with the comment above—I get that feeling too."
