THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 355

The “Miss Gonzales” Farrell mentioned was none other than the long-lost granddaughter the Gonzales family had only just brought back to The Capital.

Old Mrs. Ryan, the matriarch of the Ryan family, had once been close friends with Keira Gonzales in their youth. Twenty years ago, when the Gonzales family threw a christening party for baby Freya Gonzales, Old Mrs. Ryan showed up with young Farrell in tow. Strangely enough, the month-old Freya would always giggle the moment she saw Farrell.

Keira had laughed and teased that day, saying the two babies ought to be promised to each other for marriage.

After the party, the Ryans emigrated to Veridian, where they soon became the wealthiest family in the city.

But as the saying goes, home is where the heart is.

Since their move abroad two decades ago, the Ryans had never returned—not even once. Now, with Old Mrs. Ryan growing older and her longing for home intensifying, she’d heard that the Gonzales family had found Freya at last. The urge to visit only grew stronger.

Farrell was twenty-six now and, much like his father, had a real knack for business. His problem was that he never seemed to take life too seriously. He cycled through girlfriends faster than anyone could keep track, but never once considered settling down. Old Mrs. Ryan, worried about his wandering ways, began arranging blind dates for him.

That was when she remembered the old promise from two decades past. She wanted Farrell to accompany her back to The Capital and pay a visit to the Gonzales family.

But Farrell couldn’t have cared less.

“Grandma, please, just let it go. I’m not going to the Gonzales family, and that so-called childhood engagement was a joke.”

Though he’d never met the mysterious Miss Gonzales, Farrell knew plenty about her.

Missing for nineteen years.

Now twenty years old.

Raised by her adoptive grandfather in the countryside, barely educated, with little experience—practically a farm girl. And, worst of all, she’d already been married once.

“And who says Miss Gonzales would even want him, anyway?”

Carla Blake, Farrell’s mother, couldn’t help but chuckle. “Mom, Farrell’s only twenty-six. What’s the rush? And Miss Gonzales is divorced, after all. Farrell’s still a young bachelor.”

“A young bachelor?” Old Mrs. Ryan snorted. “He’s dated at least a dozen girls, if not more. How is he any different from someone who’s divorced?”

She’d come to see things differently over the years. Divorce or not—what did it matter in today’s world?

Carla frowned slightly. “It’s not quite the same, Mom. Divorce still carries a bit of a stigma…”

True, Farrell had gone through his share of girlfriends, but who among today’s young men hadn’t?
