Amanda couldn’t hide the smug look in her eyes as she finished speaking.
Her own daughter was about to help Caitlin get an introduction to Victor.
And Caitlin? What did she have to offer?
Other than being the Gonzales family’s beloved granddaughter, Caitlin was practically useless.
But now? Ann wasn’t just an internet sensation—she’d saved Mr. Quinten’s life, and now she’d caught Victor’s attention, too.
Surely, Caitlin must be green with envy.
Yet, when Amanda finished, Caitlin’s expression stayed perfectly calm, almost indifferent. She simply replied, “Thank you for your kindness, Aunt Amanda, but I actually already know Victor. There’s no need for Ann to make the introduction.”
Know him? She claimed to know Victor?
Amanda almost laughed out loud. Did Caitlin think Victor was just some average Joe you could bump into at the grocery store? As if anyone could claim to know him. Ridiculous.
Still, Amanda didn’t rush to expose Caitlin’s bluff. She feigned surprise instead. “I always thought Ann was modest, but Freya, you’re even more so. If you’ve known Mr. Winslow all along, why haven’t you ever mentioned it?”
Why didn’t Caitlin just say she was close friends with Master Ninth while she was at it? Or that she and Alaina Sylvester were besties?
Keira looked at Caitlin with a warm smile. “Freya’s always been humble. Besides, she knows so many people—does she really need to tell us about every acquaintance?”
Amanda had to fight the urge to roll her eyes. Ridiculous! Whenever it was about Ann, Keira was the first to question it. But when Caitlin spouted nonsense, Keira just accepted it, no questions asked.
Fine. Let Caitlin embarrass herself in front of Keira. Amanda could hardly wait for Victor’s visit.
He was stubborn—if his grandmother wanted something, he’d do the opposite. Besides, he genuinely wasn’t interested in Freya.
Sensing his resistance, Old Mrs. Ryan softened her tone. “Alright, how about the day after tomorrow? We’ll just drop by Keira’s, and you’ll meet Miss Gonzales. I know times have changed—dating is up to you, and I’m not going to force you. Besides, Keira and I only ever made a casual agreement. Even if you’re interested in Miss Gonzales, she might not be interested in you. I just want you to make some new friends. If you like Miss Gonzales, maybe you could pursue her. With our family’s ties to the Gonzaleses, you’d have a much better shot than anyone else.”
Farrell couldn’t help but laugh. Freya not interested in him? Impossible.
With his looks, his family’s reputation, and his own abilities, he was one of the most eligible bachelors in the city—and still single, no less. Why wouldn’t Freya want him?
Honestly, the only reason he didn’t want to visit the Gonzales family with his grandmother was because he was worried Freya might fall for him at first sight and latch on. With his irresistible charm, what woman could possibly resist?
And knowing how much Old Mrs. Ryan adored Freya, if Freya ever did chase after him, his grandmother would move heaven and earth to make sure they were married.
