THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 410

To Amanda, her mother’s favoritism was as clear as day.

Blatant favoritism.

It was Caitlin who had brought shame on the family, yet Keira kept insisting it was Ann who was the embarrassment. She just wouldn’t give up until she hit rock bottom.

Keira let out a weary sigh and shook her head. “With things this far gone, you still can’t face the truth? The woman in that photo is clearly Freya. Besides, I heard Mr. Quinten’s already arrived at the ballroom. Do you really think he couldn’t recognize his own savior? Ann’s little stunt was one thing, but you going along with it? You should be worrying about how Ann will manage to show her face in the Capital after tonight.”

How Ann would get by? Shouldn’t they be worrying about Caitlin instead?

“Mom, just admit it! You’re playing favorites! You always side with Freya, so of course you think Ann’s lying…”

Before Amanda could finish, a sharp knock came at the door.

“Come in!” she called.

The butler entered, and Amanda immediately perked up. “Is Mr. Quinten here already?” She’d told the staff to let her know the moment he arrived.

“Yes, Miss Amanda,” the butler replied with a nod.

Amanda’s excitement grew. “And I heard Mr. Quinten brought the Polaris Tear with him?”

The butler nodded again.

Amanda flashed a triumphant smile at Keira. “See, Mom? I told you Ann is his real savior! Why else would he bring the Polaris Tear as a gift for her?”

“Miss Amanda, that’s not exactly right.” The butler hesitated, a complicated look in his eyes. “Mr. Quinten did bring the Polaris Tear, but he’s giving it to Miss Freya.”

“What?” Amanda gaped at him, stunned. Had she misheard?

A gift for Caitlin? Why on earth would Mr. Quinten give her anything? If he was handing it to Caitlin, it was only because she’d somehow stolen it for herself. The nerve!

Amanda was about to snap back when the butler spoke again. “Mr. Quinten recognized Miss Freya as the one who saved his life. The young miss... Miss Ann was just an impostor.”

Impostor? How could Ann be accused of that? Caitlin was the real impostor!

Amanda’s face went pale. She turned on the butler, anger flaring. “Shut up! Do you even realize what you’re saying?”

The butler kept his composure. “Miss Amanda, it’s all over social media. If you don’t believe me, just check Twitter.”

With that, Keira turned and walked out.

The Sylvester family home.

Dowager Beatrice Sylvester and Alaina Sylvester were sitting on the couch, tissues in hand, eyes glued to the TV. They were so wrapped up in the drama that they’d both started crying, dabbing at their eyes between sniffles.

Just then, Gordon Sylvester walked in from outside. He took one look at the scene and frowned. “Mom, Alaina, it’s just a show. Do you really need to cry this much?”

Beatrice turned to him, annoyed. “You’re blind as a bat, Gordon. With a story this moving, how could we not cry?”

Alaina glanced up at her brother, eyes still red. “You don’t get it, Gordon. This is one of those rare shows where the underdog actually wins. The main guy was supposed to end up with the heroine, but he just couldn’t speak up for himself, so the second lead confessed first. He’s done so many touching things for her in secret. If you watched it, you’d cry too.”

She looked at Gordon intently. “If there’s a girl you like, don’t wait around. Tell her. Otherwise, you’ll end up like the main guy in this show—someone else will beat you to it, and all you’ll have left is regret.”

When it comes to love, timing and courage are everything.

“Confess my feelings?” Gordon arched an eyebrow, giving a dismissive snort. “Alaina, what nonsense are you talking about? Like I’d ever do something that ridiculous!”
