THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 425

Of course May knew just how much Raven loved Gordon. She also knew their story, every twist and turn of it. Now that Gordon had finally worked up the courage to confess his feelings, May was genuinely happy for her friend.

Raven, catching May’s excitement, added, “Not yet. Gordon’s still rehearsing how he’ll say it to me.”

“Rehearsing?” May blinked, a little thrown by the word.

“Wait, Raven, are you sure you’re not mistaken? Who needs to rehearse a confession?”

Could it be… this was just an elaborate misunderstanding all along? Maybe Gordon wasn’t planning to confess at all?

Raven laughed softly. “Maybe it’s just because Gordon cares about me too much,” she said.

There’s a saying: when you care, you overthink. That was Gordon all over—so wound up about her, he wound up overcomplicating everything.

Surely he wasn’t actually seeing Caitlin, was he? No, Raven couldn’t see any other explanation for the rehearsal.

May burst out laughing at Raven’s answer. “I never thought Master Ninth could be so shy! He’s always acted like he barely noticed you, all cold and aloof, but all along he’s been smitten.” She grinned. “If he hadn’t suddenly decided to confess, I’d never have believed you two were both so head over heels. If word gets out you two are together, the whole social scene will be in shock!”

A smile crept onto Raven’s lips. “I’ll let you go, May. Once Gordon’s done with his rehearsal, he’ll come find me.”

“Alright, but Raven—don’t say yes to Master Ninth too easily,” May teased.

“Got it,” Raven replied.

May was about to hang up, when she suddenly remembered something. “Oh, and Raven—if you and Master Ninth really get together, make sure he takes us all out for a proper dinner! Don’t forget!”

May was wealthy in her own right, but she and the others were nowhere near Gordon’s league.

Gordon was at the very top of the food chain; the rest of them were just lucky to have been born with silver spoons.

But with Raven and Gordon together, everything changed. He’d have to blend into their circle, too. If Gordon wanted to marry Raven, there was no ignoring her friends.

Raven chuckled. “Don’t worry, you won’t even have to ask. Dinner is the least of it.”

Gordon wouldn’t just be treating her friends to a meal—he’d have to win them over.

After all, her friends were practically his future in-laws already.

Just imagining Gordon, the famously untouchable Master Ninth, humbling himself to charm her friends, Raven couldn’t help but smile with pride. Who would have thought that even someone as icy and distant as him would end up in this position?

Upstairs in the restaurant, Caitlin was finishing her dessert. She had a notorious sweet tooth, so she took her time with the last few bites. When she was done, she looked up at Gordon across the table. “So, yesterday you said you had something important to tell me. Are you ever going to get to the point?”

She’d thought he’d bring it up over the meal, but dinner had been nothing but idle chatter—no serious conversation at all.

Gordon set his silver fork down and picked up a silk scarf from the table. “Put this on. I want to take you somewhere first.”

“A blindfold? You’re making this awfully mysterious,” Caitlin said, raising an eyebrow.
