THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 516

“It’s not entirely because of me. She came to Eldermere to see Dr. Oracle, and since the old patriarch of the Lyons family used to get along well with the Richards family’s grandfather, she’s just taking the opportunity to attend Hannah’s birthday celebration at Neon Spire.”

The Richards family again!

Always the Richards family!

At those words, a flicker of jealousy flashed in Ann’s eyes.

Everyone knew that Hannah’s birthday bash was also going to serve as Caitlin’s official introduction to the family.

Even Celia was going to the Richards’ banquet—wasn’t that just handing Caitlin all the glory on a silver platter?

Absolutely not!

Ann would never let that happen.

Her eyes narrowed into dangerous slits.

Caitlin thought she was hot stuff, didn’t she? Always parading around as the Gonzales heiress and the precious little princess of the Richards family.

Well, not this time. This time Ann was going to drag Caitlin’s name through the mud—right at the Richards’ family party.

A sly, wicked glint crept into Ann’s gaze at the thought.

The next day.

Ann, pretending to be Tammie, arranged to meet Celia at a cozy café.

Celia arrived, impeccably dressed, expecting to see Tammie—but was instead greeted by Ann, who sat waiting, her face a study in feigned sweetness and irritation. “Who are you? Where’s Tammie?”

Ann smiled gently. “Please don’t be upset, Miss Palmer. You must have heard my brother mention me—I’m Tammie’s younger sister.”

Celia’s anger faded a little at that. “You’re Ann?”

She did remember Tammie mentioning a younger sister.

“That’s right, I’m Ann.” Ann quickly produced her ID and a photo of herself with Tammie. “Here’s my ID, and here’s a picture of me with my brother.”

Once she’d proven her identity, Ann got down to the real reason she’d come.

“Miss Palmer, I know you’ve always had feelings for my brother. Honestly, I’ve always liked you as a sister-in-law too. But do you know why he’s never let himself be with you?”

“Why?” Celia asked without hesitation.

“Because of someone. Because that person’s presence has left him terrified of relationships, of marriage. He actually likes you very much, but thanks to her, he just can’t bring himself to accept you.”

Celia’s eyes narrowed; a dangerous edge crept into her voice. “Who is she?”

“Her name is Caitlin. She’s also known as Freya.”

Ann was more than happy to light the fuse and let someone else do the dirty work.

Celia Palmer was the darling of her family. If she got involved, Caitlin wouldn’t stand a chance.

Ann ordered two coffees and spun a tale, full of exaggerations, about Tammie’s difficult childhood.

When Celia heard it all, her heart ached for her so-called prince. And when she learned he had such a disgraceful cousin, her anger boiled over.

Ann was right—Caitlin was nothing but trouble. If it hadn’t been for her, maybe Celia and Tammie would have been together by now.
