Miss Palmer?
Keira paused, looking up at her daughter. "Are you talking about Celia Palmer, the aristocrat from Valerium?"
"Yes, that's her," Amanda said, her voice swelling with pride. "Mother, you might not know this, but our Ann and Miss Palmer are very close friends. Because Miss Palmer is in Neon Spire, which is quite far, Ann didn't formally invite her. But when Miss Palmer heard about the tea party, she insisted on coming."
Celia would come uninvited to Ann's party, but if Caitlin were to host one, Celia wouldn't show up even with a personal invitation. That, Amanda thought, was the difference between people.
Keira scratched her head, confused. "I know Miss Palmer and Freya are on good terms, but I had no idea she was also close with Ann."
Because she had promised Celia to keep it a secret, Caitlin hadn't told even Keira what had truly happened that night at the Red Silk Club. All Keira knew was that Caitlin and Celia had a good relationship.
A flash of contempt crossed Amanda's face. Keira was truly delusional, always trying to attach Caitlin's name to success. Celia and Caitlin were enemies; Celia despised Caitlin. Yet, in Keira's mind, they were good friends. How laughable. As if someone like Caitlin could ever befriend a noblewoman like Miss Palmer. It was a joke.
Masking her disdain with a look of surprise, Amanda said, "Really? So Freya and Miss Palmer are friends too! What a coincidence! That makes it even more perfect to host the party here. It will be a good chance for Freya to chat with Miss Palmer. Besides, Freya is cooped up at home all day. She should interact more with people her own age."
Just wait, Amanda thought gleefully. When Celia arrives and exposes Caitlin's lies in front of everyone, that will be a show worth watching. Let's see if Keira can still smile then.
Amanda's reasoning seemed sound to Keira. Celia's status was indeed prestigious, and since Caitlin also knew her, a tea party wouldn't be too awkward.
With that, Keira looked at Amanda and relented. "Alright, Amanda. We'll do as you say. The tea party can be held here."
"Thank you, Mother!" Amanda was ecstatic. Just wait. Caitlin was about to be publicly humiliated. This time, Ann would finally put everyone else in their place.
"I've already prepared everything needed for the party," Amanda added. "I'll have the staff start setting up now."
"Go on, then," Keira said with a wave of her hand.
