Amanda felt a surge of bitterness. She was the one who had been hit, yet her own mother was siding with an outsider! How could a mother say such things?

"Stop throwing the word 'divorce' around!" Keira retorted. "You don't have to tell me the reason; I already know. He must have been pushed to his limit. You hit him first, didn't you?"

"Even if I did, that doesn't give him the right to hit me back!" Amanda argued, her voice full of indignation. "He's useless in business, but he's number one when it comes to hitting his wife!"

"Go find Gavin and apologize to him," Keira advised. "And try not to be so domineering in the future. If you don't, he really will divorce you!"

"Apologize to him? Never!" Amanda's voice rose sharply. "Fine, let him divorce me! Who's afraid of who? It's not him divorcing me, it's me divorcing him!"

Keira sighed. "Do you have to make things so difficult? You've been married for over twenty years, and for all those years, he's been the one to bow his head. Can't you do it just once?"

"Bowing my head is impossible! I married beneath myself when I chose him! I, Amanda Gonzales, was one of the most sought-after women in The Capital. The sons of the most powerful families were lining up for me, but I was blind and chose him!" She looked at her mother. "Mom, stay out of this. He will be the one to back down. Keira shook her head wearily. "Just don't regret it." Every man has his pride, and Gavin had endured for so long. But she had said all she could; if Amanda wouldn't listen, there was nothing more she could do.

Amanda narrowed her eyes. What was there to regret? The only one who would have regrets was Gavin.

After leaving the Gonzales Manor, Amanda returned to the Templeton residence and immediately summoned the housekeeper. "Mae, go get Gavin and bring him here!"
