"Miss Kensington, Mr. Sylvester, this unit is about 950 square feet, three bedrooms, one living room. The current asking price is four million, but if you're serious, we can negotiate with the owner."
"Why is it so cheap?" Caitlin asked, surprised.
Even though the building was old, this was The Capital, right in the city center. The oldest complexes in this area were selling for over ten thousand a square foot, but this one was priced at less than five thousand, and it was negotiable. Something wasn't right.
The agent's expression flickered. "To be honest with you both, this place… it's a bit cursed. That's why the owner is desperate to sell."
"Cursed how?" Caitlin asked.
The agent glanced around nervously. It was early summer, and the air conditioning was off, but he felt a sudden chill. He rubbed his arms. "So far, this apartment has had three owners. The current one is the fourth. If you buy it, you'll be the fifth. The first owner's sister went missing without a trace. The second owner bought the place and got divorced soon after. Even weirder, the husband died in a car crash three days after the divorce. The third couple was fine, but their child drowned."
