The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella) novel Chapter 1878

When Jim wasn't being all serious, he was just like any other warm-hearted uncle. But right now, his expression seemed a bit out of character.

"So, what's wrong with being the heir?" he asked after a brief pause.

Ah, so that's what this was about. Mirabella's brow did a little twitch before she replied, "It's not that there's anything wrong with it. It's just that Nick fits the role better."

Who would've guessed that she, who just wanted to experience a simple life, would end up in such a dramatic twist of fate?

Mirabella sighed inwardly and added, "If my parents get wind of this, there's no way they'd be on board."

After all, her dad, Delilah, had been as protective of Grady as if he was guarding a treasure. If he found out she was stepping up as an heir, he'd probably flip out.

As expected, when Jim heard her mention her parents, whatever he was about to say got swallowed back down.

Knowing how her folks could be, forget about giving their blessing—they couldn't even know about this.

Jim, feeling a bit frustrated, picked up his coffee cup, took a huffy sip, and then downed the whole thing, deciding to drop the heir topic.

Mirabella lingered in the living room for a bit, catching a faint herbal aroma wafting through the air. She glanced toward the kitchen and decided to head over.

Nellie was there, carefully tending to a pot on the stove. Sensing someone behind her, she tilted her head slightly, "All done?"

"Yeah." Mirabella crossed her arms, leaning casually against the doorframe, her eyes on the stove. The flickering flames danced in her eyes. After a moment, she spoke up, "Hey Nellie, can I ask you something?"

Nellie adjusted the flame slightly and looked at Mirabella, "Sure, what's up?"

Mirabella thought for a moment, "Besides using a tracker, is there any other way to know exactly where someone is?"

"Why the sudden interest?" Nellie was a bit surprised but quickly replied, "With today's tech, unless you've got a tracker, there's really no other way to pinpoint someone's exact location."

"You think so too?" Mirabella remembered the night she entered the first base. It seemed like no matter where she went, she was easily found.
