Chapter 116
Maricela’s eyes burned crimson as she jabbed a finger. “Lucille, you’re dead set on ruining me. Do you think Cedrick will love you if you send me to jail?”
Lucille merely smiled, seeing no need to justify herself.
“Think this is funny? Feeling proud?” Maricela spat. “Even if I end up behind bars, Cedrick won’t forget me. He’ll only hate you more!”
Lucille quietly repeated those words to herself while watching Maricela’s near–hysterical glare. Strangely, they held no sting anymore–whether Cedrick loved or hated her, whom he cherished or couldn’t forget… it all felt irrelevant.
So she smiled again, this time at her own growth.
But Maricela misinterpreted it as mockery. “Know how deeply Cedrick loves me? I dumped him five years ago, yet I’m still the one he could never forget! Every inch of your house— living room, dining room–was decorated to my taste! Even your door code uses my birthday!”
Lucille tilted her head. “Oh? But the deed’s under my name.”
“You…” Maricela drew a sharp breath. “He still remembers all 100 promises he made me years ago–and plans to fulfill every unfinished one! He knows my favorite food, color, never picks wrong clothes or shoes. Cooks for me personally! If I craved Roast Turkey from Capital City today, he’d book flights instantly!”
Lucille nodded mildly. “How touching. True love indeed.‘
Maricela’s lips curled triumphantly.
Lucille sighed. “Pity you lack the papers.”
“What do you have besides that certificate?” Maricela sneered. “Any love? Does Cedrick love you? When I say ‘jump,‘ he asks ‘how high‘–luxury bags, watches, mansions! He’s compensated me for everything!”
Lucille’s smile turned razor–thin. “Those unfinished promises, luxuries, watches, mansions… he paid for them all, yes?”

“Obviously!” Maricela tossed her head. “He spends freely on me. His wealth flows like water at my command!”
Lucille pulled out her phone, flashing its screen. “Thanks for the testimony. And those transactions? Maricela tal assets, all traceable. See, my ‘papers‘ mean I can sue to reclaim every cent spent on your promises–plus your bags, watches, and mansion.”
“You…” Maricela paled, fury warring with panic. “You wouldn’t dare!”
“Hiring a lawyer? Why not?” Lucille’s eyes glinted. “And guess what? I’ll pay them with Cedrick’s money too.”
“You… what else do you have besides money?”
You gold–digger!
All you care about is money, money, money!”
Maricela fumed.
Lucille maintained a faint smile. “True, but what a pity–Cedrick’s money happens to be
mine.”
Honestly, Lucille found her own words childish and ridiculous, like a petty squabble. Had Maricela not provoked her, she’d never have confronted her directly.
Any grudges were always between her and Cedrick.
Yet Maricela not only lashed out but threatened her life.
Maricela glared at Lucille’s phone, fearing she’d recorded their exchange. “Delete that recording!”
Lucille slipped the phone into her bag. Whether she’d recorded anything or not, she wouldn’t show Maricela.
Panicking, Maricela lunged forward–healthy and strong, surely she could overpower a cripple?
She went for the grab.
Lucille resisted. Seeing her mistress at a disadvantage, Mylee rushed to help.
Just then, the lock clicked.
