Chapter 156
288 Wouchers
“You may leave now.”
Lucille said.
But he vigorously shook his head–without Cedrick’s order, he dared not depart.
Lucille let it be, rushing inside to whisper urgently in Grandma’s car.
Grandma clutched Lucille’s hand, listening intently before nodding firmly in agreement.
Then the grandmother and granddaughter began packing.
Perhaps it was for the best. With the driver guarding the house, her parents wouldn’t dare approach. Even if they came, they couldn’t enter. Once packed, they could leave immediately.
Under Lucille’s persuasion, they finished packing essentials in half an hour: identification documents, bank cards, im- portant property deeds, and valuable jewelry.
Everything else was abandoned.
Grandma stuffed it all into a canvas tote.
Exiting the house, Grandma cast one last longing glance. Unable to part completely, she retrieved photos from frames on the table, tucking them into a hardcover notebook to take along.
Lucille spotted a photo of herself, Cedrick, and Grandma.
“Grandma, let me keep this one.”
Lucille snatched the photo.
This was her picture with Cedrick–she needed to handle it. Grandma let her be.
Lucille no longer hid anything. Within days, Grandma would learn everything anyway. She grabbed scissors, cut Cedrick out of the photo, keeping only herself and Grandma before tucking it into her bag.
Grandma watched silently, sighing inwardly but saying nothing.
Lucille offered a faint smile. “Grandma, let’s go.”
“Alright.”
Hand in hand, they walked out.
The driver stood up upon seeing them.

Chapter 156
Lucille stated, “Didn’t I dismiss you? Head back first. Grandma and I are going for a meal.”
“Oh.”

The driver hesitated, watching them leave helplessly. His orders were to guard the house–should he stay or… just stay?
After wavering, he called his boss.
“Gone for a meal?”
Cedrick found it reasonable. Grandma was Lucille’s closest kin. After her jealousy–fueled tantrums here, seeking Grandma’s comfort made sense. “Keep guarding. Don’t let anyone enter.”
He assumed they’d return after eating, even messaging Lucille on WhatsApp: Where are you dining? I’ll pick you up later.
But the message bounced back with a red exclamation mark.
He suddenly remembered that Lucille had blocked him…
He had to call Lucille, but she didn’t answer. Then he sent a text message, and she didn’t reply either.
“Still angry.”
Cedrick sighed, “Forget it, I’ll go wait for them at the village entrance later.”
“Cedrick!
I’m not just saying this!
Your wife is way too dramatic!
You should teach her a lesson!
She won’t starve without you!
And she’s still acting all fussy here!”
Harlan hated Lucille the most.
David also said, “Why are you going back?
Isn’t it fun to just drink and chat with us?
Today is to celebrate Maricela moving into her new home!
What kind of sense does it make if you go
back?”
Cedrick sighed, “I have to go back. Her family is having some trouble now, and I’m mainly worried about grandma.”
