Chapter 192
> Review the divorce terms. Objections? Message me. I’ve been more than fair.
> Let this end cleanly. May your path ahead be smooth, life be filled with joy and happiness.
> -Lucille
As she dotted the final period, memory surfaced: a fresh–faced boy in uniform beneath the flowering tree, starlike blossoms shimmering like galaxies. Her nose stung.
Goodbye. Perhaps she’d only ever loved the moonlight and blossoms of that single night.
Setting down the pen, she placed the documents and letter in his desk’s left drawer. If he found them–good. If not, she’d message him mid–flight to Magraica.
Tasks completed, she ate lunch. When visiting hours began, she headed to see Mylee.
Mylee was still hospitalized.
As the saying goes, broken bones take time to heal, and her injuries were quite serious.
Lucille had some guesses about Mylee’s plans, but she felt a proper farewell was necessary.
Originally, Lucille planned to ask Mylee to care for her grandmother after leaving, but now circumstances had changed–she decided to take Grandma along.
Mylee brightened upon seeing her, yet felt guilty for causing trouble.
“Ma’am, you needn’t visit me. I’m well taken care of here.”
With nurses attending her, how could she burden Lucille, whose mobility was limited?
Lucille offered a faint smile. “This is probably my last visit.”
“Ma’am… are you leaving for good?”
Mylee had sensed this coming.
After a pause, Lucille replied, “Uncertain of the future, but if I return to Seaston, it’ll only be for business. I doubt I’ll settle here again. Forgive me, Mylee–I meant to secure your employment, but plans changed. Any new prospects?”
“Don’t worry about me, ma’am. I’ll find work. You’ve been more than kind all these years.” Mylee spoke with gentle
assurance.

Lucille settled her wages, adding six months‘ extra pay.
“Ma’am, this is too much!” Mylee protested, flustered.

“You’ve earned it,” Lucille insisted. “Your recovery will take months. Consider this compensation. Should you need anything later, reach out. Though I won’t be in Seaston, I’ll help however I can.”
Before long, Cedrick called.
“Where are you?” he demanded.
“Visiting Mylee at the hospital. You’re home?” Lucille tensed–had he found the divorce papers already?
“Yes. Returned to an empty house. When will you finish? I’ll pick you up.”
“Soon,” she breathed. Probably hadn’t seen them yet.
“Wait there. I’m on my way.”
“Alright.”
Lucille prepared to leave but decided to wait. Cedrick leaving work this early?
“Was that the master?” Mylee inquired.
Lucille nodded. “If you ever need assistance… Cedrick usually helps. Especially…” She hesitated, knowing Mylee still feared that troublemaker back home threatening her daughter.
Mylee understood. “Thank you, ma’am. May you find happiness ahead.”
“I will.” Happiness was precisely why she’d leave Seaston–and him.
The hospital stood close to home. Cedrick arrived in minutes, entering the ward to briefly check on Mylee.
With visiting hours ending, Mylee urged them to leave.
“We’ll head out now. Contact us for anything,” Cedrick said, guiding Lucille away.
