Chapter 220

“But, Madam…” Mylee started to say but stopped.
“Madam is only away for a month. She’ll be back in a month.” Cedrick had checked; their tour group was only going to Magraica for a month–long tour.
Mylee fell silent, not daring to say Madam wasn’t just away for a month.
“Well, Sir, shall I bring the food to your room, or would you…” Mylee decided to hold her tongue. She’d stay another month. When Madam finalized the divorce with Sir, then she’d leave. She couldn’t speak carelessly now and ruin Madam’s plans.
Cedrick wouldn’t eat in bed. Despite his lack of appetite, as an adult, he wasn’t about to be childish. “I’ll eat out there.”
“Yes, Sir.” Mylee quickly turned and left.
In the dining room, Sophia had already set the table. When Cedrick came out, he saw an extra person in the house.
Mylee hurriedly pulled Sophia over. “Say hello to Uncle Cedrick.”
“Hello, Uncle Cedrick.”
Sophia stood stiffly, a little scared. But she knew she could attend her current school only because this Uncle Cedrick had helped.
“Mr. Maynard, I’m sorry. I intended to pack my things and leave today, so I brought Sophia along to help me…” Mylee explained.
Cedrick nodded, sitting down at the table. “School’s out for summer, isn’t it?”
“Yes.”
“You have nowhere to stay?”
Mylee quickly replied, “We do.”
Actually, for the past five years, Sophia had stayed at the school’s care program during winter and summer breaks. But this year, since Mylee planned to move out anyway and would need to rent a place, she decided against the pro- gram. She’d rent a place and spend two months properly with her daughter.
Sophia had just returned from the school’s summer camp. Mylee planned to rent a place in the next few days.
“Where are you staying?”
Cedrick chuckled dryly, “Renting?”

Chapter 220
He guessed right….
Cedrick continued, “Rents near her school are insane. Your whole salary would go straight to rent.”
Mylee wanted to say she didn’t need such a fancy location…
288 Wouchers
But Cedrick cut in, “Just stay here. Have her share your bed–won’t bother us. She boards at school normally, and summer rentals are both troublesome and wasteful.”
“Well… thank you, Mr. Maynard.”
Mylee figured since they’d stay, renting separately for her daughter made little sense.
“Hmm.”
Cedrick barely touched his food. Swallowing was pure agony.
After setting down his fork, exhaustion dragged him back to bed.
Illness strikes like a landslide–he’d never been this sick before…
His phone lay on the nightstand. He grabbed it, blinking at the flood of missed calls: from the office, clients… Maricela…
