Chapter 234
Maricela had just been slapped by Aydan, and the mark of five fingers was still on her face.
Cedrick looked at Maricela, then up at Lucille who was choking him, sadly, “You always say I favor Maricela, but look, why shouldn’t I favor her?”
Lucille: ?

?
“Seriously, Cedrick, is your IQ that low?”
“Hold onto that IQ tight; don’t let the company collapse before our divorce. I don’t want to end up with debt!”
“Can’t you even recognize such hypocrisy?”
Cedrick’s voice turned icy. “All you care about is money. You’d even strangle me for an outsider. You weren’t like this before. You’ve disappointed me so much… Maricela.”
He suddenly called out.
Maricela fluttered over like a butterfly, tears streaming. “Cedrick, I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have spoken out of turn and caused trouble. I apologize! Lucille, I’m sorry…”
“Unnecessary.”
Cedrick cut her off, pointing at his own neck as he looked at Lucille. “Let go. I’ll apologize.”
Lucille laughed, releasing her grip and standing up. “Mr. Maynard, in what capacity are you apologizing, and to whom?”
Aydan chuckled too. “Yeah, Mr. Maynard. As what exactly to this foul–mouthed lady are you apologizing to your wife?”
“What?”
“This one’s the wife?”
“Then who’s this crying mess?”
“The mistress?”
“Seems like it. Pretty two–faced mistress!”
“Seriously? How can he not see the hypocrisy? Is the guy stupid?”

Maricela whirled around, glaring fiercely at the onlookers. “You’re the mistress! Your whole family are mistresses! We’re just friends! Friends who understand and trust each other! Didn’t you see? It was his wife, that bitch, colluding with some outside guy to hit him!”
The moment Maricela finished, Aydan stepped forward, cracking his knuckles with a smile. “Oh? Who’s really the adulterers? Perfect timing with so many witnesses here, and someone live–streaming. Why don’t we just show the evi- dence? Dare to show everyone those things you flaunted on Instagram?”
Panic flickered across Maricela’s face.
“Including that note you posted for five seconds before deleting it in a panic? Plenty of people saved screenshots!” Aydan’s smile held a hint of slyness.
Maricela froze, pure terror setting in. In a moment of reckless spite, she’d once posted a photo on Instagram: her in a sheer nightgown beside a shirtless, drunken Cedrick – his face clearly visible.
But she’d deleted it immediately after posting!
Who the hell screenshotted it?!
“What? Scared now?” Aydan pressed.
“Don’t ask her!” Cedrick shielded Maricela. “Anything she posted had my permission! Whatever mistake she made, I’ll apologize!”
Cedrick stopped squarely in front of Lucille. “Regarding what Maricela just called you…”
He couldn’t bring himself to say the actual words, hesitating before changing them. “…her inappropriate name–calling,
I sincerely apologize on Maricela ‘s behalf. I hope you’re generous enough to forgive her…”
An icy coldness pierced Lucille’s heart.
This was the first time he’d ever apologized because his people mocked her disability.
How many times over five years had Harlan and David openly laughed at her limp right in front of him? Countless. He’d always allowed it.
Today, she actually got an apology.
