Chapter 238
Maricela continued softly, “Cedrick, don’t be like this. Lucille spends all day with those dancers. She clearly can’t dance anymore but still tries… it must hurt…” She turned to Lucille, sighing. “Lucille, don’t push yourself. Cedrick won’t mind if you can’t dance. He’d only worry if you got hurt.”
How kind those words sounded. Yet Lucille saw pure triumph flash across Maricela’s face–especially when she said “you can’t dance anymore,” her gaze lingering maliciously on Lucille’s feet.
But Cedrick, that jerk, would surely think his little angel Maricela meant well again?
Sure enough, Cedrick launched into his usual lecture, his voice thick with disappointment. “If you had half of Maricela ‘s understanding, I wouldn’t have to abandon the company to come here.”
“Oh?” Lucille’s laugh was brittle. “Such a burden? Was it a burden when you flew here just for that handmade doll before?”
Memories she longed to forget–yet these two kept forcing them back.
“I gave that doll to you, didn’t I?” Cedrick’s face darkened.
“Did you?” Lucille met his glare. “I don’t care who you really bought it for. But Cedrick? I hate dolls.”

“Mr. Maynard,” Aydan interjected suddenly from the side. “Do you even know what Lucille likes?” Cedrick, who had been silent, snapped at the provocation. “What my wife likes is none of your concern!”
“I know,” Maricela cut in softly. “I know Lucille loves dancing.”
For once, Maricela was right.
Lucille loved many things, but dancing topped them all.
“But Lucille,” Maricela sighed, “you don’t need to torture yourself like this. I know my return pressures you–makes you fear I’ll take Cedrick. After all, I surpass you in looks, education, temperament… everywhere. You? You only had dancing. And now…” Another theatrical sigh. “You’re trying to reclaim the one thing you’re good at so Cedrick won’t discard you. But it’s unnecessary. He’s always known you’re good for nothing-”
Screaming internally: Cedrick, are you listening?
Lucille is worthless!
I’m better than her in every way!
See it!

Chapter 238
Her monologue shattered as Aydan’s voice sliced through the air.
“What did you say?” Aydan stepped forward, his gaze icy. “You surpass Lucille in everything?”
What a joke of the century!
I bet you’re only better than Lucille at brewing hypocrisy!
Cedrick, you drink hypocrisy every day, and it’s all gone to your head, hasn’t it?
Cedrick got angry, as if the two were about to fight again, Lucille and Linda held on tightly.

Cedrick looked at Lucille standing in front of him, who had lost a lot of weight, frowned tightly, “I’ve come to take you home, I’ve seen your dance, you should… come home with me!”
Lucille looked at the face before her and suddenly felt utterly weary, so weary that she could barely recall what Cedrick looked like at sixteen.
“Cedrick, just go.”
She said wearily.
“Lucille, come back with me.”
Cedrick said, “No matter how angry you are, you can’t ruin your health. I know you want to dance, but you just can’t anymore…”
Lucille’s gaze turned sharp, fixed tightly on his face.
