Lucille saw his serious expression.

Robert shook his head and put his phone down. Instead, he asked her, “Lucille, tell me your plans. What are your thoughts about you and Cedrick?”

Robert didn’t insist, because he was likely going out tonight anyway, and staying in separate rooms would keep him from waking her.
