Chapter 324
When it was time to leave, no one wanted the night to end, but it was getting really late and they couldn’t disturb Grandma’s rest.
Robert arranged for cars to take them home one by one.
But Aydan suddenly said, “Robert, I drove, but could you please come outside for a second? Linda and I have a gift for Lucille still in the car.”
That didn’t sound right…
Lucille sensed it immediately. That kid was hiding something from her and wanted to talk to her brother alone!
“Sure!”
Robert readily agreed.
Lucille saw them to the door, but they all stopped her from going any further, telling her to hurry back and be with her grandma.
Grandma was still sitting in the living room. Her brother had changed all the lights in the house to a warm color.
The warm lighting, the vintage furniture, Grandma sitting there smiling at her–the whole house felt incredibly warm.
“Grandma.”
She went back to her grandma’s side and hugged her,
“Lucille.”
Grandma reached out and stroked her hair, “Are you really happy?”
Lucille nodded. “I really am, Grandma. I’m very happy.”
“That’s good.”
Grandma let out a sigh of relief. “You’re braver than your grandma. Brave kids will find happiness.”

Chapter 324
“Yeah!”
Of course she’d be happy. She was going to be happy!
She didn’t know what her brother and Aydan were off doing. She helped Mylee get Grandma washed up and settled into bed before finally going back to her own room.
The busy day finally came to a quiet end.
She pulled out her phone and saw that Emma had already posted about the celebratory dinner on ins: Congratulations to our Lucille on her new beginning.
The photo was a group shot of her surrounded by everyone behind the cake. In the candlelight, her smile was especially radiant.
But below it, one comment was particularly jarring: What are you all doing?
Why is that kept man there too?
Lucille commented on Emma’s ins post: “A happy night.”
After posting it, she went downstairs to find her brother.
She wanted to know what on earth Aydan had said to her brother.
Her brother had just come in when she cornered him in the living room.
Robert smiled. “I knew you’d ask. Sit down.”
Lucille sat down on the sofa.
She was wearing soft slippers, and as she sat, Robert’s gaze fell on her ankle.
“What’s wrong?
Brother?”
That was where her injury was. For the past five years, she had gotten used to hiding it and didn’t like people staring.
Even though, five years later, she had moved on from the trauma, her habitual avoidance still made her pull her foot back.
But Robert walked over, knelt in front of her, and held up her injured foot.
“Brother…” Lucille didn’t know what he was about to do.
