The Fifth Year of Marriage to Him novel Chapter 65

Chapter 65

After the acupuncture session, she discovered a newly opened ice cream shop in a nearby mall. She ate a pistachio- flavored scoop before taking a taxi home.

Then came scheduling the study visa appointment.

She picked a date soon. When the email confirmed her successful booking, her heart gave another little leap of joy.

The trip took a few days, and her body still felt somewhat tired.

After confirming the appointment, she ate something, took a shower, and went to bed early. Lying down, she started browsing her phonelooking at housing, reading study abroad experience posts, checking for alumni.

Soon, she found ways to rent and logged onto rental websites.

When photos of apartments with exotic charm and street scenes appeared before her eyes, she suddenly felt an urge to cry. Once this urge came, it couldn’t be stopped; tears really started streaming down.

But they were tears of happiness, tears after enduring hardship to finally taste sweetness.

She felt as if a pair of wings were rapidly extending from her back. Soon, when they were fully grown, she would fly towards the distant sky

Outside the window, night had fallen. Another day had passed, bringing her closer to leaving this place.

Now, she truly was counting the days

She didn’t know where Cedrick had gone after returning to Seaston today, nor did she want to know anymore.

In the past, she always waited for him to come home, especially early in their marriage, wanting to bridge the distance between them. But their lives had no intersection before marriage.

She craved closeness so desperately she’d ask what he did today, where he went.

Every day, he gave her two words: Company.

Of course she knew he went to the company. But was there really nothing more to say to her?

She actually wanted to share her day toowhat she did, what books she read. But he wasn’t interested.

Later, she finally understood: this indifference simply meant he didn’t want to talk to her, didn’t want to share his life, and certainly didn’t care what she did at home all day. As long as she was alive, unharmed, and not ill, he paid no at-

tention

A little after ten, Cedrick returned.

At that time, her tears weren’t dry yet. Hearing the door, she quickly deleted her phone browsing history.

Sir, would you like anything else to eat?

Mylee’s voice asked him.

No. Ate already.

After saying this, he walked straight into the room.

Lucille turned over, pretending to sleep, not letting him see the tears shed for her envisioned future.

It was a silent night. He showered and slept, noticing nothing unusual about her.
