“Please wait a bit longer. I’ll inform Mr. Maynard once the meeting ends.”

The secretary smiled, then left and closed the door behind her.

Lucille waited in the conference room.

Ten minutes passed.

Twenty minutes passed.

Half an hour…

Watching time slip away, she couldn’t wait any longer. Rising to open the door, she found it locked from the outside.

This was bad!

She had a visa appointment this afternoon!

Frantically, she began calling Cedrick. Strangely, the phone rang but no one picked up.

Lucille knew that if this wasn’t a setup, it was almost impossible.

She didn’t even have time to figure out who set this up or why. Her visa application was probably too late now.

She looked around the conference room. It was on the top floor of the company building. Jumping down wasn’t an option.

She had several numbers from Cedrick’s company in her phone. She called them one by one.

First, the receptionist. After connecting, she yelled, “Help! I’m locked in the top–floor conference room! Please save me!”

The same girl answered the phone. She scoffed coldly, “Couldn’t seduce Cedrick, got caught by security, huh?”

“Heh, serves you right!”

Then, the call ended.

She actually had Harlan and David’s numbers in her phone. Even though they were sworn enemies who hated each other, when they first met, as Cedrick’s brothers, they exchanged contacts in front of Cedrick,

She sat down, her hands trembling as she opened her phone and quickly wrote an email to cancel her visa appointment.

“What’s going on?”

Many people ran out of their offices to look, asking each other what happened.

“There’s smoke!”

“Fire!”

Someone started shouting, “Call the fire department!”

Cedrick also heard the noise. He came out immediately and saw smoke coming from the small conference room.

“The conference room is on fire. Luckily, no one was meeting there today.”
