Chapter 1065

Zada was stunned. In that moment, it felt like the sky had fallen.

Zada had genuinely trusted Sierra, never expecting that everything about Sierra was fake. Her face and her name were fake, and she had been using Zada all along to go after Halsey.

Zada couldn’t believe it. “So those three thugs really were sent by her! She planned this from the start, got close to me on purpose, and wanted to use me against you. It was all part of her scheme!”

Halsey felt a flicker of relief. Zada wasn’t completely lost–at least now, she’d woken up to the truth.

Taking a sip of coffee, Halsey said, “Now that you think back on all the moments you spent with her, can’t you start to see the clues? Something that’s fake can never be real. No matter how convincing, there are always

cracks.”

Zada thought back for a moment. Sierra had always been sneaky, and now, it all made sense.

“Sierra is way too cunning. If I hadn’t run into those three thugs today, I can’t imagine how long she would’ve kept deceiving me!” she said bitterly.

Halsey could only smile. Those thugs hadn’t randomly appeared; Shaun had deliberately sent them to her so

Zada could discover the truth.

People had to live with wisdom, or they would never really understand what was going on in life.

Halsey continued, “You know Sierra’s true face now. What do you want to do?”

Zada felt guilty. “I’m sorry. I was an idiot, and Sierra strung me along. But now I see her for who she really is. That thing with Mr. Lane–Sierra set that up, too, didn’t she?”

Halsey nodded. “Yes. It was all part of her plan.”

Zada clenched her fists. “She’s really something else! She actually thought she could play all of us like puppets? We have to team up and expose her. Do you have any ideas?”

Halsey thought for a moment. “Right now, Sierra doesn’t know you’ve figured it out. We should turn her plan against her.”

Zada nodded. “Okay!”

The two whispered a few quick words to each other, then Zada grinned.

“I know exactly what to do.”

Zada went to campus and sat down with a book.

It didn’t take long before Sierra came running over and sat next to her.

“You talked to Halsey last night, right?” she asked. “How’s she doing?”

Zada knew Sierra couldn’t wait to ask–that was the trap. Sierra had fallen right into it.

Sighing, Zada said, “She’s not doing well.”

Sierra hid her excitement behind a worried expression. “What’s wrong? Don’t keep me hanging–tell me!”

“When I saw her last night, she cried so much, and I had to take her home myself. She’s six months pregnant now. Imagine if something happened to her baby! Both she and the baby would be in danger. They say mothers risk their lives every time they give birth!”

Sierra’s plan had always been to end Halsey. Halsey had taken everything from her, and as far as Sierra was concerned, everything Halsey had would belong to her once she was dead.

“So have you made up with Halsey?” Sierra asked.

Zada nodded. “Yeah. She doesn’t really have anyone else right now, so she has to rely on me.”

Sierra’s face lit up. She grabbed Zada’s hand. “Don’t worry. Halsey doesn’t just have you; she has me, too. I’ll always be there to help her.”

Zada looked at Sierra. “This whole thing with Halsey started because of you. When are you gonna go to the media and clarify that nothing ever happened between you and Mr. Lane?”

Sierra wouldn’t clarify the matter, of course, but she couldn’t explain herself to Zada either. After all, Zada was her strongest pawn, the one she needed to use to take down Halsey.

“I–I…” Sierra stammered, unable to finish her sentence.

Just then, a gentle ringtone sounded. Someone was calling Zada.

Zada pulled out her phone, and Sierra’s sharp eyes immediately caught the caller ID.

It was Halsey.

Zada answered, “Hey, Halsey.”

Since Zada hadn’t put the call on speaker, Sierra couldn’t hear what Halsey was saying.

Zada’s expression instantly changed, and she jumped to her feet. “What did you say? You’re in the hospital?”

Halsey was in the hospital?

Sierra’s heart pounded in her chest.

“Okay. I’m coming right now.” Zada hung up and started moving.

Sierra grabbed her arm. “What’s going on? Did something happen to Halsey?”

Zada’s face was serious. “She’s been experiencing some pain in her abdomen today. She’s already in the hospital, and I need to go see her.”

“I’ll go with you.”

“No, it’s fine. Halsey doesn’t want to see you right now, so I don’t think that’s a good idea. Catch you later.”

Zada left after saying that.

Sierra stayed behind, fuming. There was no way she would miss a moment this dramatic! She had to follow and see what was going on with Halsey.

Half an hour later, Sierra arrived at the hospital. She approached a nurse and asked, “Excuse me, do you know which room Halsey Mallin is in?”

The nurse looked at her. “What’s your relationship to the patient?”

“I’m a good friend of hers. We’re classmates.”

The nurse pointed ahead. “She’s in the VIP room over there. Go ahead.”

“Thank you.”
