The Heartbreak Prescription (Stanley and Wendy) novel Chapter 1089

Wendy stayed crouched in the commer, and she froze when she heard Jessica’s words. Her heart skipped, and she slowly looked up at Stanley

He lowered his sharp gaze toward her, his eyes dark and burning

Their eyes met.

Stanley? Did you hear what I said?Jessica’s voice broke the silence.

Stanley looked away. The past doesn’t matter anymore. Don’t bring it up again.

“Then let’s talk about now,Jessica said softly. She stood up, smoothing out her designer dress. She had trained as a dancer, and her figure was graceful, her face beautiful and glowing, Let me go over to your place tonight. You and Wendy are over. Don’t you want me at all?

Jessica had once dated Stanley, and she knew him well. He was a man with strong desiresvery strong ones.

Wendy felt her cheeks burn. She didn’t want to hear any of this.

Even though Stanley had agreed to marry Jessica, actually seeing this conversation unfold still made Wendy’s

stomach twist.

Stanley’s face stayed unreadable, I’m busy tonight. I have to go to the office,

Jessica’s smile faltered. He’d turned her down again. But she tried one more time, I can-

Jessica,he cut her off, his tone cool, I already said I’d marry you, Stop clinging to me. It’s getting annoying.

Her lips trembled, Okay, I understand. I’ll go now.

Jessica turned and walked away,

Stanley pressed a button, and the car window slid back up. Then he glanced down at the small figure curled up by his legs and smirked. She’s gone. You can come out now,

Wendy straightened and quickly reached for the door. I’m leaving.

But before she could touch the handle, he wrapped his strong hand around her waist and pulled her in.

Wendy lost her balance and fell onto his lap, right against his chest.

Stanley looked at her closely. What’s wrong? Are you mad?

When she heard that, her face flushed even more. No, I’m not.

Sure you’re not,he teased, his voice low. Little liar.

I told you, I’m not mad! Why would I even have the right to be?

He tightened his hold on her. Nothing ever happened between Jessica and me.

That’s only because she didn’t agree,Wendy blurted before she could stop herself.

She froze. The jealousy in her voice was obvious.

Stanley chuckled under his breath.

Wendy glared at him. What’s so funny? I hit the nail on the head, didn’t I? Is that why you’re laughing, to cover it up?

He raised an eyebrow. Why would I need to cover it up? I did date Jessica.
