Chapter 14 

Kael left Emilia groaning on the floor and dropped to his knees again, crawling toward Jaden. 

“I’ll do anything you say, Master. Just–please–spare me,” he begged, forehead touching the cold tiles. His voice trembled with desperation. 

Behind him, Emilia was dragging herself across the floor, blood seeping from her mouth, face bruised and swollen. She spat on the ground. 

“You pathetic coward,” she hissed. “You think siding with that stranger makes you safe? Once my brother–in–law returns, you’ll all be corpses. Mark my words!” 

BOOM! 

The grand doors of the estate slammed open with a deafening crash. Dust swirled in the hallway as a lone figure stepped into the light. Drax. 

He stood tall, his coat flapping gently behind him, muddy shovel in hand, its blade still wet with soil. His boots dragged traces of the cemetery inside. 

All eyes turned to him. The guards stepped forward, weapons halfway drawn, unsure whether to attack or freeze. 

Drax didn’t flinch. His eyes, dark and locked with fury, scanned the room–then settled on Emilia, who was still writhing. 

She looked up at him with disgust. “Who the hell are you? Another dog summoned by this monster?” 

That was all it took. 

Drax’s calm demeanor twisted into pure bloodlust. 

“You dare,” he said, voice low and venomous, “call my Master… a monster?” 

In a flash, he crossed the distance, seized Emilia by the throat, and lifted her clean off the floor. Her hands clawed at his wrist. 

“Put me–down-!” she choked out. 

“Gladly,” he snarled. 

He slammed her to the ground with brutal force. The floor cracked under her weight. She let out a shriek, but Drax wasn’t done. Grabbing her by the leg, he flung her repeatedly like a ragdoll. 

CRACK! 

THUD! 

CRUNCH! 

Each impact silenced the room more. Her screams faded into whimpers, then nothing. He finally let her go, body twisted unnaturally in a pool of blood. 

Gasps echoed through the hall.

Drax stood tall, chest heaving. He looked around, eyes narrowed. 

“You all stood by and watched her mock my Master?” 

He raised his shovel and in one clean motion, swept through a line of guards. 

SNAP. 

THUD. 

SCREAMS. 

Shattered bones. Collapsing bodies. Blood splatter on the walls. 

“Kneel to the Master!” Drax roared. 

Without hesitation, everyone dropped. 

Derek. Elder Dusk. Lady Mary. Every guard still breathing fell to their knees. Silence fell like a weight. 

Kael, still kneeling, dared a glance at Jaden.
