Chapter 21
Bob stood frozen, drenched in sweat as he stared at the unconscious bodies of his men. His lips trembled.
“C–Come here, Bob,” Jaden said, dusting his hands off casually. “I wanna ask you something.‘
Bob flinched, took a step back. “B–Bastard! You think you’re strong? There’s always someone stronger than you! Just wait! I’ll call my cousin–you’ll be dead meat!” 1
Jaden’s expression didn’t change. “One last chance. Come here.”
“You really don’t know who you’re messing with,” Bob sneered, regaining some courage behind his words. “My cousin is Crusher Kane–he runs this district. He’s got dozens of trained killers under him. If he says you’re dead, no one will even bury your body.”
Gasps erupted from the crowd.
“Crusher Kane?”
“The district enforcer?!”
“Kane is the King of this street”
“Even the police don’t touch him…”
Bob puffed his chest. “You still have a way out. Hand over your sister. Add $2 million in compensation. Then get on your knees and beg. Maybe–just maybe–he’ll let you live.”
Marvin’s face went pale. He rushed over, grabbing Jaden’s arm.
“Kid, listen to me. You need to leave. Now! You don’t know who Kane is. He’s a monster. I’ve seen what he does- he once burned a man alive for stepping on his shoes.”
Jaden glanced at Marvin and calmly walked off. A moment later, he returned with a chair, set it behind the elder, and gently helped him sit.
“Please, Elder Marvin. Sit down. Thank you for taking care of my sister all these years. From now on, I’ll take care of you. You won’t have to fear anyone ever again… and you’ll be rich, too.”
“haha look at this fool, you can’t even protect yourself and you’re promising someone else riches and protection. not only are you ignorant you’re delusional!” Bob taunted.
Marvin’s hands trembled. “Kid, I appreciate your kindness, I really do… but you’re not thinking straight. Take Julie and run.”
Julie tugged on Jaden’s sleeve. “Big brother, you’re strong… but even you can’t fight an army. Please don’t get hurt.” 1
Jaden placed a hand on her head. “Who said I’m alone? I’ve got thousands of soldiers. I just need to snap my fingers.”
Bob burst out laughing. “You? You’ve got soldiers? What are they–ghosts?” He turned to the crowd. “Everyone, did you hear that? This fool thinks he’s a general now!”
Just then, the screech of tires cut through the laughter.
One after another, sleek black cars rolled in, surrounding the area like a blockade. The doors swung open in sync, and out stepped dozens of grim–faced men in suits, boots hitting the ground with deadly rhythm. Every single one of them carried weapons.
And then the last door opened.
