Chapter 292 – New Family
–AJAX’S POV–
The music was loud, the drinks were flowing, and honestly, I was having the time of my life.
in
Warner, though, was stiff as a board next to me, his eyes darting to the doors every two seconds like Sapphire was about to pop and grade him for effort.
“Relax, man,” I said, bumping his shoulder with mine. “It’s a party, not an exam.”
He shot me a look. “You don’t get it. Everything needs to be perfect. Sapphire likes things done a certain way, and she especially enjoys making fun of werewolves for being sloppy.”
I snorted into my drink. “Never thought you’d be so whipped, Warner. You’re worse than Aaron and Zane sometimes. This is proper simp behaviour. Next thing I know, you’ll be asking me to iron your shirt because ‘Sapphire likes crisp collars’.”
Warner’s jaw ticked, but his lips twitched like he was holding back a smile. “Laugh now. Wait till you find your mate. Let’s see if you’re still talking big then.”
“Mate or no mate,” I said, grinning, “I’ll never be as gone as you. You’re done for, brother.”
Before he could fire back, the doors of the pack house creaked open, and everything inside me froze.
Warner straightened immediately, standing up from his chair, barely keeping himself from rushing forward to receive her.
The first thing I registered was a scent. Sweet. Addictive. Like fire and wild roses twisted into one.
My heart thundered in my chest, as sharp tingles shot through .me, skin prickling like I’d been hit by lightning.
I frowned, breathing slowly, the world around me blurring.
Black glitter floated into the pack house first, setting the stage for a dramatic entrance straight out of a fairytale.
Witches and their magic tricks.
Then they walked in–Sapphire at the front, her coven following behind like shadows made of silk and magic. The room shifted, energy sparking with the kind of tension only witches carried with them.
My chest rumbled before I even realised, a low growl clawing up my throat. My eyes went black, claws threatening to surface, instincts snapping awake like I’d been waiting for this exact moment my whole life.
Maybe I was.
Then my gaze finally locked on her, and everything started to
make sense.
She had long red hair that caught the lights, falling around her shoulders in waves. Her eyes scanned the room, sharp, clever, and somehow soft all at once.
My whole body went still, every muscle flexing, a single thought ⚫ replaying in my head over and over.
The word left my lips before I could stop it, raw and certain.
“Mine.”
–ZANE’S POV–
The main hall of the pack house was buzzing, music booming through the air, the scent of food and wine thick around us.
Lights hung from the beams and candles burned on every table. People laughed, voices carrying above the sound of clinking glasses, and for once the tension that had lived in this house for months was gone.

I stood on the platform with Lia, her hand resting in mine, both of us looking out over the room. Sapphire and her coven had just arrived, their presence attracting every pair of eyes. She was dressed sharp as always, that dark witch elegance that made people stare without even realising it.
“Tonight we welcome new family,” I said, my voice echoing across the room. The music dropped low, conversations dimming until there was only silence and the soft crackle of the torches on the walls. “Sapphire, you’ve done more for us than most will ever know. If it weren’t for you, we would never have stood a chance against the Order, or all the other threats we’ve faced in the last year. You gave us strength when we were close to breaking. You risked your life for people who weren’t your own. And because of that, you are our own now.”
