The Luna of Rain novel Chapter 2

No part of me wanted to come to the Silver Moon Pack today, but I knew I needed to in order for us to discuss any issues they were having that I could possibly help out with. With the current alpha planning on stepping down soon, me being the Head Alpha meant I needed to lend my support anywhere they needed it.

Alpha David was not a bad alpha by any means, but he was worried about stepping down and letting his oldest daughter's mate take over. I couldn’t blame him though. I had met Olive’s mate, Stephen, earlier and immediately got a bad vibe from him. Unfortunately, Alpha David didn’t have any sons so his only option was Stephen since his other two daughters were either too young or hadn’t found their mate yet.

I could tell Alpha David was hoping his middle daughter, Gretchen, would be my mate but thankfully the Goddess was still looking out for me even though at twenty-five, I had yet to meet the one woman made for me.

Storm, my wolf, whimpered in my head, upset over the fact we hadn’t met her yet.

“Trust me Storm, I can’t wait to meet her either.”

I was in the packhouse's formal dining room surrounded by the Alphas family along with their Beta and Gammas families just having small talk until dinner began. After dinner, I planned on approaching David right away to get this meeting along so I could return home as soon as possible.

I was trying my best to listen to Alpha David and Beta Silas tell me a story when I felt a shiver run up the length of my spine followed by a strong presence. I turned and looked down, only to meet the most stunning ice blue eyes I had ever seen. I was mesmerized, the rest of the room fading away into nothing as I drowned in a sea of crystal ice.

I scanned the rest of her face, feeling my breath hitch as I took her all in. Her hair was the color of night; long and silky smooth with the same colored lashes surrounding those eyes I couldn’t look away from. She was beautiful with her heart shaped face, full lips, high cheekbones, and creamy skin.

The sound of Alpha David clearing his throat broke us from our trance. He probably thought the omega was bothering me when the truth was, I couldn’t stop myself from staring. I heard her soft voice ask me if I wanted the champagne and I took it but not before lightly grazing my hand against hers. My breath got caught in my throat when I felt light tingles spread across my hand. She tensed like she felt it as well before turning on her heels and quickly walking back to the door she came through.

“Storm, is she our mate?” I asked my wolf.

“I don’t know,” he replied sadly. “I didn’t sense a wolf in her.”

My shoulders sagged at the realization. The girl looked to be around eighteen years old and if she didn’t have a wolf yet, she probably would remain wolfless for the rest of her life. Plus, I was a very strong alpha so the chances of me being paired up with an omega were slim to none. But no matter how much I tried to tell myself she wasn’t mine, I couldn’t stop thinking about her and picturing her blue eyes every time I closed mine.

“Sorry about that Alpha Xander, Ray is one of our more awkward omegas considering she doesn’t have a wolf.” said David.
