Chapter 32
“Have you arrived? If you have, just wait for me a bit–I’m stuck in traffic.”
As usual, Leo called right on time for dinner.
“Um, Leo, I’m sorry, but I can’t make it tonight–something came up.”
“I sent you a text this morning, but I assumed you were busy and missed it.”
The was a long, heavy silence on the other end of the line.
“I can wait for you,” he said at last.
Hearing him say he’d wait nearly made my jaw drop in disbelief.
For three long years, it had always been me waiting for him.
Waiting for him to finish with Aria, to have dinner, to sleep–waiting for him to have a moment for us.
I quickly ended the call, turning out whatever else Leo was trying to say.
As I stepped out of the car, I was momentarily stunned by the sight before me.
Rolin had brought me to the place where it all began- my undergraduate campus.
