NARRATOR
Theron held the lioness’s sturdy body and sat down with her draped over his thick thighs.
His feral eyes locked on a bloodstain on the ground. Searching, he found she had a wound on one side of her head.
"At least the bleeding stopped," he muttered, chest tight with worry as he felt the dried fluid.
Why was he so desperate to save this animal?
"Kham, do you feel anything special?" Theron asked his wolf while his rough lycan hands searched through all that golden fur.
She had bruises and maybe a few fractures from that violent fall.
"It’s confusing… I feel she’s special somehow, but I can’t see inside her… she smells delicious, I like gardenias."
Theron found himself burying his muzzle in her furry neck and breathing in deep.
The creamy, perfumed scent flooded his senses, making every pore of his skin tingle.
Theron frowned; he knew there were other continents with rare creatures—he’d have to ask about this lioness.
But first, he would give her his blood; he hoped it wouldn’t be toxic for her.
Lycan blood was complicated; it could be harmful to weaker creatures.
"She looks pretty strong… like an Alpha female within her kind."
His wolf told him that and, in the middle of his thoughts, they heard footsteps.
Theron turned his head and found Beof carrying his twin sister.
Beof’s and Amara’s eyes stared in astonishment at the cavern full of strange surprises.
"Did something happen to Amara?" Theron frowned when he saw her being carried in the giant lycan’s arms.
"Well, looks like I twisted my ankle," she said, lounging lazily against that broad, pale chest.
Theron raised a brow. He knew Amara too well not to recognize she was just playing weak in front of her mate.
"What is that tree and this cave? Also… it’s daytime." Beof looked at the sunbeams, stating the obvious.
No one had answers to his questions.
"What are you protecting in your arms, brother?" curiosity pricked at Amara.
She cared more about the gossip than this weird place.
When Theron showed them properly, they were even more astonished to see an unconscious lioness and, the crown jewel of oddities… the way her twin was looking at the beast.
Amara narrowed her eyes, all mischief.
