NARRATOR
Beof stared toward the tree for a moment. He thought he’d seen her somewhere; maybe he was confusing her with someone else… he wasn’t sure…
"Do you know her?" Amara asked him.
"No… I don’t know, maybe when I fought on this continent… I don’t really remember," Beof admitted, but he soon forgot about it because it wasn’t something he cared much about anyway.
Laziel stepped aside with Lavinia to open a special portal to Victoria and Drakomir’s castle.
"Why didn’t you tell your brother that what he’s carrying in his arms isn’t a pet, but a shapeshifter?" Laziel whispered in his female’s mind, standing off to the side and letting her work her magic.
"Have you seen how he carries her everywhere? Theron isn’t exactly affectionate. So who knows… maybe he found himself a little surprise. So lips sealed."
Lavinia’s beautiful eyes narrowed at her male, who was watching her intently, leaning against a wall.
The dark prince loved his companion’s bossy streak.
With Laziel’s detached, indifferent attitude, no one would imagine the seductive conversation he was having with Lavinia.
"I don’t know, I suddenly feel chatty… What will you give me to buy my silence?" A golden glint flashed through those half-lidded, sexy eyes.
Lavinia huffed as she moved her hands and summoned her elemental portal magic.
"You’re such a pervert I’m running out of ideas," she answered carelessly.
"All I’ve got left is to cover my body with your favorite food and get on all fours on a table so you can devour me."
"Deal."
"What? Laziel, it was just a saying… Hey, don’t you dare!" She shot him a warning look, pressing her lips together so she wouldn’t curse out loud, but Laziel only gave a faint smile.
He waved his hand and the portal burst open.
The evening breeze rushed in.
On the other side, they could see the green fields and the oppressive walls of Drakomir’s fortress.
"You know I don’t understand sarcasm. So you should’ve thought that through, because I’m going to take it super… literally, my beloved Lavi." He stepped in and gave her a quick, wet peck that made Lavinia’s legs—and something else—tremble. "Damn seducer," she muttered, already picturing herself dressed in pork chops, like the little pig at year’s end.
"Beof, take Amara and, brother…"
"I’ll stay here; it’s better if someone watches this place and I want to…" Theron glanced at his heavy, not-at-all-bothersome burden, "heal her before I leave."
Lavinia and Amara exchanged knowing looks.
"If you know that lioness is—" Beof’s booming voice tried again to tell her.
"Ahhh, Beof, you’re squeezing me too hard, love!" Amara shouted with theatrical flair, cutting him off again. "Let’s go already, leave Theron be—he knows how to take care of himself. We’ll be right back!"
